Quick dev update - Earth Empires Forum

How do you envision new skool acting as an app? The game packaged as a playstore app wouldnt change the way the game is... IE being a multiplayer turn based game.

Or do you just mean we need a new mobile layout would make the game faster to play and that the current mobile site (m.earthempires.com) layout doesnt cut the mustard? New mobile layout is coming according to pang.

the mobile experience is pretty nice to play on compared to the existing mobile or the regular web version on a phone, both of which are pretty abysmal

I've been playing on the bus going to work in the mornings and it's actually enjoyable to play again :p

you realize you no longer have to wait 18 hours for login bonuses? They are automatically given to you now based on time? Even if you stay logged in 24/7 you receive bonus turns...

Actually, the login bonuses work the opposite way now -- you get a bonus for logging in at least every X hours. We want to incentivize play, not save on server resources.

It's been that way for like 5 or 6 years (admittedly, I forgot this as well and qz had to remind me recently :p)

How do you picture an app version of the game tho? I dont understand how it would be "faster" since this is a turned based game.

Infinite turns or something? No turns?

I've presumed that the current mobile experience is just bad and a pain to play on so no one wants to. Some people may only have time to play on mobile, so it's a non-starter in that regard.

Clan chat interface I could see.
Being able to just click an icon to get into game.

Mobile app in general has potential to be far easier to use on our end.

All of the stuff that could be integrated. The possible improvements are endless.

The new moible verson of the game will basically be an app. It will be as good as an app in just about every way. TBH I dont see the need for a native app with it. It could add some neat things like push notifications though.

Spyop saving is something we've discussed, as well as making them more easily available when selecting targets

The goal there being making it easier to play solo servers where you don't have a hosting site to persist such data

Allow us to easier upload to more than 1 site. some sites lack a lot of functionality (boxcar) but looks awesome and others (ghq) have awesome features but look terrible :-)

Boxcar has better functionality in some limited but important ways than GHQ still. Country report function on boxcar is the best publicly available grabbing tool that exists unless the Evo site has something better.
Boxcar is just so goddamned slow tho. :(

I think boxcar looks great but it's quite difficult to navigate, perhaps it would not feel as difficult to navigate if it was not so slow.

Honestly, it's the crazy amount of posts. I'm debating taking a DB snapshot and deleting all posts/threads from like 4 years go and beyond, then re-indexing them once a better system is set up.

At some point, we'd like to bring a better clan hosting sort of experience into the game so we can retire Boxcar/Evo's site

evo's site has countrysearch of targets which give best (approx) gains based on member's country's nw.

comwood's earthstats had much more posts (I had few 30k+ posts accounts and top poster had ~90k) than boxcar has now, ofc es alliances IAs cleaned boards occasionally while today members of alliances can go back maybe even few 100 pages.

afaik, no one has more posts than LaF.

LaF's posts include all of Boxcar-time and all of GT's post migrated over.

I threw some indexes at the forum posts problem. It didn't help, but that's the current bottleneck :p

Boxcar is also hosted on the same server as ee and im sure qz limits its resources at least I assume that.

yes he does (or did), he limited boxcar's market stats update timer due some connection speed (tc had much faster net so bc's market stats were updated more or less realtime).
