Plausible deniability for lack of investment in infrastructure by the ISP and an ancient router from the 90s failed.

My ISP is terrible, they deny any problem unless more than 200 people complain. When that occurs they send out a rep to confirm that there is no problem. Eventually they get their engineers to come fix the problem 2-3 weeks later. However its now an 'upgrade', which means its a fix that won't last very long.

I was once talking to their rep, after talking to the technicians who were working on the problem across the street. The rep denied there was a problem even though the technicians were there fixing the problem.

What happens when the web host is unavailable? Do time-sensitive functions continue ticking (i.e. market, turns, etc)?

If I logged in right after downtime and orders hadn't gobbled up the cheap goods, would I be able to snatch up cheap stuff that was sitting on the market?

I assume if the server is still running (just not available from the internet) that time-sensitive functions continue to work. You just won't be able to see them until the server gets its internet connection back.

ok thanks, that's what i figured.

turns are given upon login, so even if the server is physically turned off you will still be given the correct number of turns upon your next login.

other stuff continues to spin as well, such as the ranks stuff, bonus stuff, etc

the only time that we run into issues is if there are physical or hardware related problems, but even then there's quite a bit of redundancy to make sure things keep humming.

right now we are at the pinnacle of what you can do for next to no money, which in large is due to qz's awesome server admin efforts

given which ISP qz uses there really is nothing better in his area without going to something insane cost wise:P. Also given the ISP he uses it's rather impressive that things function as well as they do bw wise.

sounds like i should be surprised that they let you run a server using a home account instead of paying the money required for a business account.
