Surely I am not the only conspiracy theory nut that thinks this whole story is a little too convenient?

I haven't really read up on Sarkozy and US relations but I am positive he is the lesser of two evils for the US if the choice for the next president of France is Strauss-Kahn or Sarkozy.

Obviously Sarkozy would want to be reelected.

You are aware that we have a fairly liberal administration in office? I suspect the current US admin would much prefer SK to Sarkozy, and they would certainly NOT want to strengthen any chance Marine Le Pen has of being elected. Based on his past history with women, the SK nose dive will almost certainly add fuel to the 'moral decay' bonfires for the conservatives.

French newspapers saying that DSK left the hotel an hour before the incident and was having lunch with his daughter. Interesting to see whether this was true, doesn't seem like it would take a long time to verify.

I dont think all this story is a conspiracy. If the fantasist scenario of all of it being a set up, then DSK will be freed soon and he will not present himself to next elections. Quite honestly, US are already having enough problems. I doubt they would have any interests in poorly setting up such a situation.

There are a lot of conjectures. But, definitely, DSK does have a past far from being a model.. There is a journalist and writer who claims she was sexually assaulted by DSK. The problem with this story is that she never brought him in front of the justice. Though this can partially be explained by the fact her mom was a elected for the Socialist Party during that period..

Also, there's that story of investigation on DSK about the possible abuse of power..he was judged not guilty of the accusations for that one..


So, the guy has a background.. and he is clearly a sexual deviant.. the guy is sick and need help ASAP otherwise he could one day strike again. I dont really believe in a conspiracy. I think the guy just snapped and lost total control.

I think the damning evidence is that he left his stuff in the room and was caught aboard a plane. I could understand leaving some stuff behind but if I recall right he left his cell phone which seems very odd.

I am not sure what to think now really. This all seems so convenient though. I know having the power can corrupt and inflate your ego to the point of making you think you can get away with anything but this seems just really odd.

What is right now mixing the cards is that he was very calm onboard of the plane. It seems that, at the time he is accused of rape, he was actually taking breakfast with a 'unnamed' person that will be a witness for the trial. The medias are speculating it is his daughter. Also, the lawyers are claiming he called to demand for his cellphone that he forgot. But, that is one side of the version. From what I read, DSK will base his defense on the fact that he had a consensual sexual relationship with the victim.

A few ex French ministers are right now crying at the conspiracy and accusing the US of making a organized intervention in order to take out a political figure from the picture.

About sexual deviants, these people can't show any self-control once they are aroused up to a certain point. It is practically a sickness.. or an addiction should I say.. Like a heroin junkie.. Once the need rushes in, control is becoming almost impossible. For Sexual deviants, I read it is even worst because Sexual pulses are immediately causing a physiological and psychological need to relieve the pressure.

As for the presidency.. it's true that he was running for president and was the favorite on top of it, but I don't think that it changes that no matter the position, the guy was having a serious problem for several years already. He probably never looked for help and never thought that it was bad.. here's where it led him..

That's the ordinary possibility of this trial.. The extraordinary one would be the conspiracy theory. I guess we now have to wait and see.

Umm the guy is the head of the IMF and thus has diplomatic immunity, he could actually have afforded to ignore the law. His behavior is what is making him seem innocent now.*

Diplomatic immunity if he were here on IMF business, however the IMF itself has stated that he was here on personal business and on his own dime therefore not qualifying for diplomatic immunity.

Yeah Diplomatic immunity was out, that was brought up in an article I read last night some time.

We may all be surprised where this ends up. I don't see him going to prison no matter what the outcome is, but I would say his political career is over, and if he is this unstable than it is all for the better.

After hearing the story about it on NPR this morning - little doubt that he totally raped her.

What I don't get (well a lot of fluff I guess) - is that its New York, he is very wealthy - why rape a middle aged, African muslim maid when you can pay a nice agency girl to pretend to be a middle aged African muslim maid and not get sent to prison.

Yeah, when I first made this post it was before they release a lot of information on what kind of guy he really is and that he had done this before. I also thought the same thing about the prostitute angle but I guess there is the possibility that he just couldn't control him self.

If sexual deviant == person that can't control themselves once they are aroused, the solution is simple. Remove possibility of arousal by neutering them.
