my guess is that it is not on EEs end the problem originates... though for some it kinda sucks... different strats have different need for bonuses.

Nah, my guess is the database isn't working. The website doesn't list any games at all. It's sending a 500 error which means something went wrong while executing the PHP code server side.

I've sent an message to the email the domain was registered with. It didn't bounce back so it's a real email address, perhaps this will get their attention.

It's not. They are an integal part of the game now for some strats on some servers. Using bonus points correctly determines winners and first losers on some servers regularily.

with respect to the value of bonus points and their integration n the game - i concur with gerdler ... as things stand, in my opinion, you basically can not be competitive (top 5) without getting and using well, at least 90% of all bonus points available during the set

so if the points aren't available, i think it will tend to a leveling out and general reduction in scores, that is, the advantage given by gettng and using those bonus points well kinda just evaporates. so skilled players with tuned strats basically just loose any hope of improving on their personal best, while less skilled players do relatively better

personally, i'm ok with this, but i can see how competitive players resent it

easiest fix is to do away with bonus system - i can't see what good it is actually doing the game -- do we ever get new players from those systems?

I think generally the game would get new players, maybe not new but returning players+ new players more numerous than quitters if there was some actual changes. Maybe the bonus system it self didnt make many players come here but Im sure there was an uptick in the interest in the game in general.

Now bonuses are tested and "old". That's not saying they are bad in anyway, just that they are no longer new and exciting.

Admin should create more small changes such as that every now and then. Maybe govt changes, changes to DR, changes to bots. Will not make us 100k players but maybe bring back 100.

I don't understand why you think changing the game will help anything. It will only drive people away. Every break I've taken from the game has been precipitated by a change I didn't like, and I know of many others who agreed, and haven't ever returned. Changing things won't gain us anybody, change for the sake of change leaves me dumbfounded.

I am not suggesting change for the sake of change... I am suggesting balancing some stuff, making people think, creating a new meta.

It has been done many times before and some of the changes are good some are bad.

Bots, SOs, market history, DR halflife instead of threshold time, smooth gaussian NW-factors instead of thresholds for LGs, alphaffa, leaderboards, IRC news and market servers and end set news/statuses are some things that are new since I played before my hiatus. Those are amazing changes that just make everything better for players who try to take advantage of them and understand them. And its not like all of them were introduced in one go. so players had time to learn and adapt. Those are changes that have happened over like 6-7 years time I reckon and I had adjusted to them in like 3-4 months mostly.

Sure there are some things that I don't like too.

But even if you don't change the game, you could balance govts and bots. I'm not saying fix it right away. Work towards it.

there is a big difference between evolving the game and changing it.
most of the smaller changes like dr halflife, bots, nw factors for LGs etc is the games evolution.
removing bonus points is a major change considering players plan their strats in advance and use the points accordingly. I need my bonus points otherwise my strat plan will need to be changed and one month of using the points will be in vain.

Yes forsure, the addition of bots was a necessary evolution as player numbers were down and grabbing targets impossible to find.
Anyway i just hope the busted bonus link is fixed or we get addition points from the functional links.

This shouldn't be hard.

The Browsergamelist and Top100ArenaList bonuses are both 24 hour bonuses, and I'd wager for 98% of the players these two bonus links were synched up; they would both become available at the same time.

Just take the 4 bonus points we are not getting from the dead Browsergamelist and reassign them to the Top100ArenaList bonus.

If you let it continue as is then the Permanent Bonuses advertised ingame are Permanently Broken, and that's a sign of an abandoned game.

doesnt look like it. and my top10 strat for this set is fluffed unless we are given the points we were unable to get. thats around 5 days of 4 points daily so total 20 points.

It is very very unlikely any additional bonus points will be distributed, although that is only my opinion. Since this is not the first time, or even the second time that this has happened, it sounds like continuing to bank/risk your entire round on it might not be the best strategy going forward.

Im learning that the hard way. Might as well remove the bonuses associated with them such as rd and expense.
Not to mention one cant even get the perm gdi anymore as you cant collect 16 in a day.
