sh1t the m3 is slow too. back in 2001 when the e46 came out it was amazing... for an NA car, but these days, a stock camry v6 makes around 275HP.

Its all about power to weight ratio, Pain, this car weighs less than 800lbs and with a 200hp engine, that's a go fast very quickly convo, bigger engine = more weight ;)

Automatic?

a stock v6 camry can run 14 flat to low 14s in the 1/4. That is the fastest in its price range. That beats or tie the mazdaspeed 3.

The new bmw 335 gets to 60 in 4.7 sec and 13.3 in the 1/4. Which is amazing btw because it still managed to get 33mpg HW. That is camaro ss territory and a compact economy mileage. Hell even the new genesis coupe v6 comes with 348 hp now. Cars are actually getting faster and also better in gas mileage.

The e46 had 333 hp out of probably the best NA 6cyl ever made. The new twin scroll turbo is awesome but it is just not as smooth as the old inline NA 6. However, you can't argue the torque band, power, and mileage.

It's not just about power to weight, the power band is much more important. BMW are somewhat underrated but their engine power band is as good as you can get for a mass production vehicle. That is why they are so much faster than other manufacturers both bearing the same power/weight ratios.

I dont care about the camry ;)

it's just funny to think a camaro ss can't even beat a camry by a full sec lmao.

if you have the old 4.6 stang and trying to race a camry then you should :)

I've seen other reviews with lower. My brother in law's V6 SE ran 14.1 at a local track. Others have gotten as low as 14 flat in stock everything.

The mustang varies a lot depending on tires, season, gearbox, etc...

The camry is always the same V6 is always automatic and tires are never sticky lol. But its time is extremely consistent since there is no launch to time or gears to miss for shifting.
For normal drivers, a person with the auto v6 camry will win most of the time.
For more experienced drivers/enthusiast, the mustang 4.6 v8 manual will edge the camry by a little bit. The mustang equipped with auto will most likely lose.

Interesting, goes to show you how the power to weight ratio makes a difference, the Mustangs and Camaros are heavy weights, the camry is a lot lighter, but wow, I didn't know the newer mustangs ,and camaros are so lame!, I wonder how the Impreza fairs vs those 4, I always been a fan of the WRX :)

the camry only have 268 hp with the least torque. Weight 3400 lbs
the mustang had 300 or 315hp and even more torque
the bmw had 300
camaro 422

they all weight around mid 3000 lbs with the camara being heaviest at about 3850.

The interesting thing is the family sedans with the smallest engines, bmw and toyota are the most efficient in acceleration. That's because of their torque curve.
Look up a dynograph for the bmw or camry and compare it to the camaro and mustang and you'll see.
