I have recently come into the possession of a CD entitled "Greatest Hits - The Canadian Brass" that includes selections from Pachelbel's Canon, Handel's Hallelujah Chorus, Bach Toccata and Fugue, Clarke Trumpet Voluntary, Sousa A Collection, and Fats Waller Handful of Keys.

Has any of you ever heard of this group? Are they popular somewhere?

I was listening to the CD today, and when they got to some of the Sousa work, I started thinking "It's supposed to be a "March", not a "Mince".

I will be only too happy to share the tracks in question with anyone so that they can hear that I'm not kidding.

Either A. there are no knowledgeable Canuckians, or B. No one has ever heard of this band.

That said, as far as music where genre != (trance | techno | dubstep | power-metal), I'm not exactly the best reference....

I've got a cassete tape, 1986, Canadian Brass "The Mozart Album" Came from a garage sale. I'll have to play it in the old Honda where the tape deck is and report back

So I drove to Bridgewater today and listened to the Canadian Brass playing Mozart. Sadly, they suck.

Canadian Brass was a prestigious group and rather internationally renowned in their time (from the 1970s/80s).
Mozart isn't really suitable for brass instruments imo.

Perhaps Mozart wasn't, however, my problem was the way they played the Sousa material. It's supposed to be martial music and all that marching and other stupid stuff military people do. When they played it on this CD I have, I could envision the gay pride parade marching to it. It was changed from a march to a mince.

...and how many gay pride parades have you envisioned? Or participated in?
