No country is ever safe from LG's. There are always a few top feeding TTR's in primary. Everyone can be broken by someone.

Not that it is a super efficient way to gain land but even if you know you'll get related with ghost acres you can still gain big, given that it is a 1:1 exchange.

Yes you gain big Requeim, but unless that gain is really huge, you lose

A) A large number of jets/oil to make the PS.
B) You have to rebuild all those acres and CS lost in the exchange - the ones not included in the "trade gains".
C) You risk being topfed yourself by being on more jets.

The monetary costs of (A) and (B) are very significant and calculable. (C) is an inherent risk.

I'm pretty sure he isn't a commie. He's a lower acreage theo techer. If he hits me for 1609A (2357A), and I can only Retal for 1100A (1600) or so, he's done pretty good for one shot. Plus instead of spying and grabbing he can now tech his turns.

much easier... the mil loss will be large from such a big grab and a big retal... and all that building time will hurt a techer more than most too. he could comfortably take more land from two large midfield targets who were unlikely to muster enough to retaliate.

some people just like big grabs though and don't play to win ;)

If he gets hit back for 800 acres then it's a good LG. The losses at this point are low and oil is cheap. He doesn't have that much land to worry about building costs being expensive. A theo also have high bpt. 220 cs gets you 84 bpt. That's a huge turn saver.

You guys are knocking on this because you're all bottom feeders. It's ok, take it easy. You may be next so don't let it bother you.

There was a dictator last set making huge gains with land trading. So there is a point in doing it.

As a techer it is easy to ramp up your mil strat tech making it reasonably worthwhile to midfeed and pretty much guarantee you come out much better off when your victim is landfat. And then you can dump tech or, if you've plenty of turns, tech lots to move out of optimal nw range.

When i'm teching i prefer hitting those that are about 80% of nw though. Much easier to avood the retal.

Hungover isn't trep is it, or is he #136?

Still risky unless you have taken the time to do market ops on them to say ensure they don't have 2mil barrels of oil sitting around or high warfare tech. It's ok, people learn lessons and for many it takes learning the hard way. (And yes, I'm enforcing the lesson to at least one player right now).
