Best thing I've done is taken a year or two off this game. I blame rm for dragging me back.

Side A: The meta of bot farming 5000 hits as FFO without any defense and then oil destocking without any politics or player interaction in a server in which only one strat can win because of bots having control of the market and expenses at high acres preventing C/I and MBR effectiveness is objectively a boring game.

Side B: Sounds better than getting my coconuts rocked every set because of long term grudges maybe like 2 people in each clan actually care about. I'd rather every war dog left this game and I never had to deal with them again. 380k acres in bot hits and an oil destock on FFO has been the meta for 8 years and you don't see me complaining.

It's something to that effect.

Edit: For the record...I'm on side A of the debate, but there's a lot of finger pointing and name calling in the middle which I find annoying.

You certainly a) take pleasure via b) antagonizing other players, those are the two essentiall elements of griefing.

QZ can you also fix:

1. Remove spies, troops, turrets and tanks
2. Remove weapons tech, spy tech, sdi tech, warfare tech

Clans in alliance GDI won’t need it anymore.

That's because your only remaining stated interest in the game is griefing. You can still do any number of legitimate things, just like everyone else.

What's the declare war bug?

To be clear: I've generally tried to do things that are balanced (often to LaF's chagrin), but griefing and long standing war grudges have been issues for a long time. I think trying this is worth a shot. It effectively isolates a clan from everybody else.

I *will* try to make some bots tag up, which will make it so there are effectively penalties for being in ClanGDI.

I know some of you are 60+, and stuck in your ways, but why is this acceptable?

I'll be the first to admit I've thrown around some mean insults on these forums. And I think that's part of the whole problem here. Everyone talks about the player base dwindling, but have we ever taken a step back to realize that our community is extremely hostile and offensive toward each other. It's not a very inviting or fun place to be.


With regards to the 'autist' insult, MrFord, that insult is extremely offensive to many. You're taking the word autistic and turning it into a pejorative. It's incredibly offensive to people who do have autism, as well as the rest of the world that doesn't see those individuals and their disabilities/differences as pejoratives. I understand that calling people autists is what all the cool kids are doing nowadays, but it's actually not cool at all. It's incredibly childish. I just wanted you to be aware, in case you weren't.


That said - I won't throw stones in a glass house. I've called people quite mean things on here before. So I'm going to try to do better.

Maybe like, give it a chance for a couple of sets and see what happens eh? We can always adjust things. Better to try something new every now and again than to stagnate.

Laf seems like they rely on game devs to protect them because they can’t diplomatically navigate through the game.

It seemed pretty reasonable that people were noting their reasons or lack of interest for not wanting to do the signup with a possible captain they disagree with philosophically (who already made the initial shot across the bow of what they think the community considers fair).

From a forum moderator perspective, Primeval gives warnings if he feels a topic is going away from its intended purpose (e.g. the primary round talk thread as a recent example) without removing all the initial posts (especially as they're not otherwise against any forum rules).

1. Get 10 people
2. Make two team captains
3. Have team captains select from pool of players (alternating - draft style)
4. Have the two teams war each other.
5. Rinse, repeat each set.

Result: With each passing set better players will be selected first and teams will be more balanced and evenly challenged.
