I was a leader in Paradigm at the time Goorp was a member, and at that time we were a 100-150 member alliance in this game.
From what I can remember of Goorp, he was a highly dedicated member of Paradigm who was quickly raising through the "ranks" in the alliance. He was very active on the forums, and not afraid to share his opinions and as mentioned above, was in line for a promotion, in which he would have been perfect for.

The news of his passing affected everyone in the alliance, and efforts were made to pass on our condolences to his family - mostly by Happy Chicken and Comwood (the President at that time).

I believe he may have had a "biography" thread in the old website for the Paradigm alliance in Earth Stats, which was being kept as a memorial. Unfortunately, the old website is no longer accessible, and with it went a lot of the old posts and history in Paradigm. As Comwood was the admin of that site, maybe if anybody was able to contact him, he may be able to retrieve some of it.

I also remember that we had a dedication reset, where we had goorps name in our "country" names, and possibly the "tag" as well. However, as the game itself has gone through multiple owners, and even been re-imagined as Earth Empires (originally Earth 2025) I'm not sure if we have / they have these old records.

Sorry, I wish I had more to offer. Knowing that people in this community are still posting about and praying for your son today, shows how much value he was to people who knew him in this game.

Pang, my recommendation is to remove all threads from this board regarding this.

TAN has been dealing with this from the very start, in fact he booted 'thatguy' straight away and set him as a Kill Target.

He can't force Paradigm members to attack him when they can't even break him, when he was clearly online and stonewalling as well for a long period after his hits, when the Paradigm members are already at war (and attending war chats with another alliance) and all have different login hours.

We've had one Paradigm member already started paying back the reps, and I am personally going to pay some to one of the other countries.

Yes, there is a lot of LaF hate in Paradigm. Why not? We have a lot of history as enemies, sorry that Paradigm members aren't jumping to help out LaF.

You coming out here, badmouthing the entire clan, placing 100% blame on all of us, is not helping the situation. Not sure what all this bullfluff rape talk is.. (i really don't think it is appropriate) but here we go... it is the rapist's fault for a fact, as you have said, (ie. "suicider") not his fluffing friends (ie. "alliance") who didn't know what he was about to do and weren't physically able to stop him, think about that for a second, nobody in their right mind would come out and blame the friends before the rapist, guild by association is bullfluff.


Your own 'Don' has made a thread on here, attempting to calm the situation and deal with it via Messenger, as it should of been from the very beginning. But you, a game admin (sorry.. but that's what you are), are on here instigating... YOUR THREAD.. on AT? What the fluff are you trying to prove here? How are Paradigm members meant to respond when they are being bashed on here? It is NEVER FOR A SECOND going to help calm the situation and come to any sort of resolution by dealing with matters on here.

I only have been back for one set, and I don't know what goes on these days, but FA matters were never ever dealt with on AT.. because this is the fluff that happens.

I have a huge problem with you coding 'anti-suiciding' measures into the game.

What.. your bullfluff policies aren't enough? LaF really needs to be untouchable?

Here is an idea.. why don't you code attacking other countries from the game? Because that's basically the idea isn't it?

I don't like your attitudes. You seem to want to be able to sit up the top, push your weight around, and just have everyone accept the status-quo.

Well, I for one am sick of seeing the little guy getting pushed around, sick of the small clans and untagged newcomers getting farmed out of the game.

Players have to learn that getting grabbed for being landfat is not the end of the world, it's actually part of the game, and this lesson needs to be taught.

I am now glad I did not waste any of my turns or stock hitting thatguy. You guys deserve what you get.

Here is an idea Pang... howabout instead of thinking about ways to code into the game to stop landfat LaF countries from getting suicided on, they buy some fluffing defence?

LaF are one of the very few alliances in the game in a position (politically) to change things for the better, but they only give a fluff about themselves.

You guys have bullfluff policies (land:land), totally farm untags and small clans who are new to the game trying to get a foot in the door, ask for ridiculous amounts of reps (I've seen what you've asked for.. and I bet you are crying for more as I type this)

TAN, as NOW3P said, a gesture of good will. I understand they've been compensated already, however if they still feel wronged and want to point fingers at PDM, I would hope this would satisfy them and clarify my own personal stance on cheating, as well as Paradigms.

My attacks on Llaar were between the time periods: May 12/10 6:33:51 AM and May 12/10 6:39:37 AM

My very first attack was successful and displayed correctly, the remaining were errors.

Why were there so many? because it is easy to hit backspace and attempt attacking again multiple times.
Especially when your works proxy server is buggy half the time anyway.
(anyone know how to stop caching with Mozilla btw? I have to refresh constantly to play my turns.. caches old pages)

Afterwards, I reported the bug with attacking, as I assume I am meant to do. I could only report it on the forums.

No, I wasn't in IRC co-ordinating any attacks. I can't get on IRC during the hours I am at work. :(
TAN has even had to give me targets on site, which half I missed hitting cause I have to do work in between checking. :D


My country is alive, while others who were online that time and did a large number of hits have been deleted.
So, I assume I am in the clear here.

However, a PDM member did abuse the bug, which I am sure our IA are in the process of dealing with, there has already been an announcement regarding bug abuse.
I unintentionally abused the bug as well.

If this is going to get political, then with my alive country, I'd like to offer it up to NA as an apology for what happened here.
I can FA reps to a country of your choice, drop defence so you can farm the land, and / or in addition self delete.
I'm sure TAN will give me permissions to do this. (sorry for not asking first TAN!)

I didn't come back for one reset to give PDM a bad name, PDM has a strong history of being anti-cheating in this game and that includes bug abuse.

nah... my first hit went through correctly.. but I got the error message continually after that.. and considering I only had 8 turns.. I was extremely suprised when I saw the news in Boxcar... cause in Earth Empires, it was not recording as using turns.

If the admins want to be hardlined about it.. then I suppose my country is going to be deleted. :(

Actually.. that might be some relief, I can stop constantly checking if NA is going to hit me next.

I stopped hitting when I checked Boxcar and realised wtf was going on, that it appeared to be registering the attacks somehow... admin needs to look at this asap.. as if it is more widespread.. everyone on the server can do unlimited attacks at the moment?

Yeah... I think they need to roll back the server or restore his country or something...

I just did 103 hits on him according to Boxcar.. but Earth Empires was just giving me an error message that I posted on Bugs Forum.

Llaar, some advice, shut up, and start digging upwards. Stop pointing fingers at everyone else. The more crying and blaming you and your followers are doing on here is only making people lose respect for you more.

Pang, I feel it is very valid reason to drop a pact, much better than others I've seen in the past.

Who really wants to be allied to a cheat, or somebody who looks the other way to cheating? If they can't be trusted to follow the simple rules of the game, how can you trust them as an ally?

There is too much 'pacting' in this game already, it can only improve the game if alliances take a stand and state their pacts actually mean something, and you need to meet a certain standard to be pacted to their alliances.

I'd like to see it go back to the times when you had solid pacts with friends only, you only gave DNH pacts as an FA tool to calm a situation and avoid a war.

Yeah... good to see you guys caught it out, however, it does not give me much confidence in this community though that stuff like this is still happening despite how few people are playing than in the old days.

It's hard to save a community in which peoples ego's and attitudes are to the extent that they will cheat to win... at a text based game. Everyone is out for themselves, as long as they are on top.. anything goes - cheating, game killing policies, whatever......

btw. Llaar's Alliance server country (#119) wasn't removed, and yet in that thread on FFA server his name was specifically mentioned.

Any reason for this? I can see from the threads/screenshots that he did have knowledge of the cheating, but is his country still being in the game a sign he did not actually take part?

Considering he is the President of an Alliance on this server. More information would be appreciated. As by his title, he represents NA in this game.

Llaar, I've gone from respecting how far you have come from back when I used to play (running your own alliance with some of the members who I've had the pleasure of talking to who are really good people) to losing that respect, in seeing how low you could go.... I only hope this is a wake up call and you can turn yourself around back on the right path.

If you break the rules, you get deleted.
Don't think for a second that you can get around it by saying it was on another server.
They cheated at the game, they got their account deleted for it, and are therefore cheaters.

Very interesting the fact that the majority of these cheaters were from NA.

So what are you going to do about it? Oh, make excuses.

Perhaps instead, you should work on disciplining your members whose accounts were deleted and informing them that it is unacceptable, as per the game admins post.

You make NA look worse by claiming it was not a just deletion.

Dragonlance, Why fight on AT for? Declare war already if you are going to cry so much about being farmed... or work it out by contacting FA's and come to an agreement. May I suggest renaming the alliance from RAGE to WHINE.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm keen for a war. Netgaining in this game has always been lame. This smack talk is boring me...

RaTS... What new players? The game hasn't exactly been growing anyway. Need to work on sustaining the current player base first.


NOW3P... encourage bottom feeding? Bottom feed what exactly? There are no countries to bottom feed.. and if you increase DR to make it not worth it, then people have to look at targets that haven't been hit already.


The idea is, for the game to change to try and attempt alliances to change 1:1 retal policies and have less pacts.


But hey.. if you guys reckon farming the f*** out of any "new" players that might join the game or running all explorers is whats best... cool.... thanks for your input.

Seriously.. with 700 or less countries, most alliances pacted out.. something has to force everyone to change their "retal" policies.

I think it'd be interesting to start everyone off with a set amount of acres, and then from out of protection, your only choice is to land grab for land - so, if you want to grow, you grab or nothing. Increase diminishing returns, so people have to vary their targets to get any benefit.

Bottomfeeding days are long over.. and were really only supported by bots anyway.

What's killing this game.. and has always been killing this game?
The social aspect of it.. the "policies" and "pacting" alliances enforce that go against the design of how the game itself should be played.

I've mostly been hitting RAGE countries that have been hitting PDM.

Instead of retalling attacks against them, they seem to be attacking other random PDM countries, and then getting retalled for it.

Sucks about ES, but PDM used it as it's Primary site as well and had to switch to Boxcar.

Howabout an iPhone app / mobile accessible? Get it on iTunes.... might be another approach other then the Facebook app... at least then Earthers can get on there and give it good ratings.
