This is mainly an issue in Express due to the rate of turns, duration of the set, and 24 hour minimum alliance time but might be good for all servers. Currently, you can send an alliance offer to someone, they can see your military and attack you then accept the alliance offer resulting in you being unable to retaliate for 24 hours/360 turns! To add insult to injury, if this is done in the last 24 hours of the set, you have absolutely no recourse.

I propose that if you send someone an alliance offer and they attack you, the offer is automatically rejected upon the attack. This would not prevent you from becoming allies with someone who recently attacked you but would protect you from getting punked.

I'd be in favor of alliance offers being automatically rejected if the person you offered them to attacks you. That just makes sense.

JJ asked this question but never got an answer. If you attack your O ally's D ally, how are ally contributions counted?

1. The common ally's contribution is ignored for both the O and D allies
2. The common ally's contribution is included but he does not lose any forces

Does one LORDS tag ever attack or war with the other LORDS tag? Do any of the other duplicate tags fight each other? Do you have forums/threads and other resources on your clan sites dedicated to your teams working together? I'm on the outside looking in but it seems like this is just a mini-alliance server where RD is the big dog and alliance costs are free.

I would really love to play on the Team server. The idea sounds like the perfect medium between solo and clan play. However, the Team server is overrun with Alliance server tags and Alliance clans using more than one tag to assert protection to multiple teams. RD is the worst offender of this with 5 tags / 24 coutries but not the only offender as 5 Alliance server clans have 2 tags. Out of 21 tags on server with more than 2 members, 71% are clan/multiple tags! So much for playing as a 5-man team against other 5-man teams!

The use of Alliance server tags and multiple tags on the Team server should be disallowed to decrease the barrier to entry for new players and teams, encourage more play on this server, and create a more level playing field for all teams.

Try out some of the other bonuses and you might learn to like them, too. The exploration rate, building cost, and reduced expenses bonuses can be incredibly effective. The level 3 building cost bonus is -40% building costs and it works with batch building! (I spend most of my bonus points on this bonus.) -50% expenses for 10 turns is a good choice near the end of the game when your expenses start to approach your production. Sprinkle in the production bonuses and attack str bonus as beneficial.

Yes, eestats is useful to watch against voiding GDI protection as long as it doesn't go down which screwed me over once since I didn't remember hitting a particular country that really likes to chem people and hit him a second time. Players shouldn't have to rely on an outside resource for this kind of important information, especially new players. This would also educate new players about GDI.

If that little advisor guy could provide any useful information, this would be very high on my list. Also up there would be similar prompts when you are about to play turns that would make you run out of food and/or money. Real advisors would stop and warn the leader of a country if he were about to do something that stupid and he would have to proceed against their advice.

Nah, I don't know how this conflict started but RD was a bunch of overcompensating jerks 12 years ago and they appear to still be a bunch of jerks. Using the RD tag to enforce a retal policy on Team is complete BS. Playing a 5-man team game in a group of 25 is exceedingly lame.

1 point: +10% readiness regen for 10 turns
2 points: +25% readiness regen for 10 turns
3 points: +50% readiness regen for 10 turns

2 points: can launch 2 attacks at the same time, normal # of turns used, readiness calculated at time of attacking
4 points: can launch 4 attacks at the same time, same terms
8 points: can launch 8 attacks at the same time, same terms
limit 4 uses

Since the in-game news history does not necessarily list all of the countries that one has attacked/been attacked by over the set and GDI coverage is invalidated upon the 2nd attack and/or harmful spy op, I would like to request a confirmation dialog when one is about to perform a spy op or attack that would invalidate GDI protection. I.e. on the second harmful spy op, you would get a confirmation screen that says "Performing this spy operation will allow your opponent to use special attacks and destructive spy ops against you. Continue? (Y/N)"

I would also like to see the same feature for the first attack/acquisitional spy op made if a country has not joined GDI.

A number of experienced players, including myself, have been burned by forgetting to join GDI before the first attack or accidentally attacking a country twice in one set because it had cleared off the news feed. This feature would make the game more friendly to all players but especially new players who might not be informed about the mechanics of GDI or how to join it.

Since the in-game news does not show the complete history of countries you have attacked and players should not be forced to relay upon outside resources such as eestats, I think a confirmation dialog prior to making an attack that will invalidate your GDI protection is a great idea. I'd like to see the same thing before you first attack if you have not already joined GDI. I'll request it in B&S.

I played a T tech and converted to MBR 18 hours before the end of the set. In retrospect, that was too early. I should have waited at least another 6 hours since tech prices started to improve after my conversion (maybe partially because I stopped teching and JJ got deleted so supply decreased).

This was my first attempt at T MBR in express. I only built about 80% MBs. I also grabbed a fair amount of land before/during conversion to boost my private market regen rate. Sadly, I only got to resell about 3 times because military price stayed pretty low until 1 hour before the end of the set.

Who won? 26mil is huge for all-x T cash.

Spies are $1/unit/turn + 0.005 bushels = $1.22/unit/turn @ $44/bushel. Spies are 1 NW so they're also $1.22/NW/turn.

Also, all of these numbers scale with NW which I factored out since it's a common factor along with gov't bonuses and tech %.

Other than the 24 hour DR/DS on landgrabs and spy ops (still need to change to 4 or even 8 hours!), I think Express is about perfect. The new GDI rules are brilliant. They protect people who want to play the game the way it's intended from idiots who just want to fluff around. Killing people in express is fine but the way that you guys are playing the game seems sketchy. You all tag your countries and coordinate efforts set after set--that doesn't sound very much like individual play to me! You guys should play Team and FFA together if you don't already.

TroubleMaker MrB (#14)

Rank: 67
Networth: 1,255,621
Land: 5399
Successful Defense Percentage: 12.5%
Kills: 2

TroubleMaker m0nz0 (#29)
(Tyranny)
Rank: 53
Networth: 1,683,152
Land: 5665
Successful Attack Percentage: 100%
Successful Defense Percentage: 16.67%
Kills: 1

TroubleMaker Kazz (#89)
(Tyranny)
Rank: 81
Networth: 916,664
Land: 5208

The only good thing about these guys is that they're always good LGs if you catch them when they have 0-2 DR (and of course you should be in GDI and only grab them once).

I like the idea of a note next to deleted countries stating what rule they violated like we have for posts that get edited. It would serve as a warning to other players that the mods do track down people who try to cheat and would also be reflected in the record books as an additional mark of shame upon those who do cheat.

Neither JJ or the mods had to post anything about his deletion here. However, JJ is a high-profile player so people were interested. He was also brash and egotistical enough to post comments here that gave the mods a reason to reply. I suspect they would have remained silent otherwise as they did after his previous deletion until he posted public comments that slammed the mods.

Was the communication between JJ and his "roommate" all in-game or did some of it appear to take place outside of the game? Even if the two countries were run by separate people and all communication was in-game, I agree that one player playing a country solely to assist another country violates the spirit of the game. However, sharing information outside of the game is clearly against the rules and of course so is running multies.

JJ, I want to make something perfectly clear: my country name this set and "JJ the impotent little kitty (#34)" are not imitating you. They're making fun of you. If you want to compare yourself to a sports player, Barry Bonds, Jose Canseco, and Mark McGwire are better comparisons to how you play the game.
