One potential solution we discussed at one point was:

1) we bring back the free 15A;
2) every day, land dropped gets put in a "land_pool"
3) at the end of the day, set end_day_land_pool to land_pool and then end_day_land_pool/(total countries) is given in addition to +15A (rounded some way) and subtracted from land_pool

4) Dead land or Deleted land would be put in the pool;


that way land would never disappear from the game, but would be redistributed to everybody else in the game.....

I've looked at a few of these ideas for suicider prevention over the years; i posted some on the old earth forums, and then on the Jolt forums and email the jolt admins....

but haven't really had time to sit down and churn through some numbers yet...


But i'll definitely look at feasibility of these at some point here

if you were buying stuff and got 0,0, that has been fixed

if you were bought from, go to Buy Goods or Buy Tech and it should reimburse you for any difference between what the market thinks you sold and what your country thinks you sold......

they were probably at level 3 (5 or 6 attacks on them in the last 24 hours) DR then, tyhat should give almost exactly 5%

if you are attacking somebody with 20M nw and you are 12M nw, the maximum you can get on a normal govt SS with no MS is 3.9% of their land; (compared to an absolute max of about 7% for norm govt SS with no MS)


the closer the attacker/defender nw's are, the better, generally speaking

also i've run the numbers on self-farming before, even when it's perfect you spend a TON to rebuild (because you lose equal buildings to ghost acres gained), and it takes a ton of turns; it's much less profitable than farming somebody else and not getting retalled =/

K4F, the point is:

SPY OPS IN NO WAY AFFECT GRABBING RETURNS. PERIOD. NO EXCEPTIONS.

test it in FFA if you like... make 14 countries to do 700 spyops on the 15th country, grab once before, and once after... and see if the results are significantly different.

They won't be by the way.

the origin of which was me trying to come up with a battle.net account name that wasn't taken and starting with the left upper and lower two keys....



but anyway


Test server: we have test "servers" and Yes it was tested; just for an idea of how many things we do, we're well past our 1000'th revision now and increasing fairly rapidly. I did test this code on the server, but the incident (now that i looked further into it) required more than one attack to be noticed, and i merely tested one; and one of *nearly every other action* in the game. However, when the number of code changes goes up, the probability that a bug will creep through despite your testing also goes up.... it was bound to happen eventually that we'd do something.

We could have a server where the developers test each others code for a few days. But then we probably wouldn't even have finished the game by now =/

Aggressive development is required to meet some of the goals we've had and to implement things the players have asked for.



We do try our best to test everything out, but sometimes - though rarely - things sneak through unnoticed....
