Every presisent gets boo'd in the world series. Cept obama maybe but all the rest of them did. The lock him up chant was pretty solid tho.

Too bad Scherzer couldn't go. You can't win if you don't score but seeing a newb give up four early was tough. I bet scherzer will be available on Tuesday or Wednesday with some cortisone and back rubs.

If Verlander tosses a gem in game 6, it's maybe a moot point that i like Max over Grienke in game seven, but you could even see Max going behind Straus like they did in the wild card game.

I want to say Verlander is due a gem but he's got some David Price ass world series numbers. He's... 0-6, 33 IP, 36 K, 11 BB, 24 R in the world series now. 0 clutch. Probs kate uptons fault. But its avg strikeouts, 6 losses, and a 6.5 ERA in the world series. He was the first pitcher ever to lose his first five 2 years ago and that record got extended this year.

If Washington gets to him early, it sets up for one hell of a game 7.

It won't matter tonight. Strasberg is the best pitcher on either team, it won't be enough. The way the Astros are hitting they could be facing Greg Maddux and Sandy Koufax tonight and they would still win.

Nah man. They couldda stuck with Grienke or went to cole. Lots of stuff didn't go right coaching and the strikezone was hella bad inside. Washington got the big hits and won.

Why the Astros lost Game #1 of the 2019 World Series:
Two big reasons: 1) Cole wasn't as dominant as he had been in his first three postseason starts, and 2) Houston failed to cash in its opportunities. Cole had allowed just one run in his first 22 postseason innings. Game #1, he gave up two home runs (and five runs) in seven innings. Meanwhile, the Astros lineup did him few favors, stranding runners left and right. As a team, the Astros were credited (or debited, depending on the perspective) with leaving 25 runners left on base. (That, of course, double-counts many individual runners.) The Nationals, conversely, stranded just 12 runners, albeit while reaching base five fewer times.

As a team the Astros lost the series. As a team, the Nats won the series.

Yeah and i think if you were gonna pull grienke on 80 pitches in that spot you have to go to cole and not a middle reliever. Cole is in a contract year and they had him up 2 different times. Seemed like they were going to let him go and then just didn't. There shouldda been no fear of blowing his arm out because hes going to a different team next year. Will Harris has been good this year but far from the best pitcher on that roster. I'd have much rather have seen Cole give up the series.
