Not sure if this is a glitch. I tried to grab this country just a few minutes ago with A FAIL. It's safe to assume this is early in the set so this user who is untagged either a bot or human won't have a huge amount of weapons tech. I currently have 20k weapons tech. We have similar NW (200k difference).

I did a spy op:
Troops 111215 x .6 = 66729
Turrets 227803 x 1 = 227803
Tanks 12389 x 3 = 37167

Total break without tech or allies = 331,669.

I assumed this person wouldn't have more tech than i at this stage, but even at the same tech and taking into account def allies (which this person does not have). I sent 500,000 jets with 10% weapons advantage and it FAILED!

Someone please explain this to me, maybe I am calculating this wrong. I thought usually a 20% oversend ensures success. But i sent 45% more and it still fail?

bought up or you just got fluffed and no oversend quarentees succcess.

with tech and govt, raw break is 550k ish. Id have sent 700k

You did a spy op,
-why are you assuming his weapons tech?
-does he have allies?
-What gov is he?
-What gov are you?

Basically you've given partial information to your calc, and have also said that you did the thing to get all the information necessary.

Networth doesn't effect the break, only the returns.
Your calc numbers are wrong anyway even if I take all your assumptions at 100% accuracy.

Honestly I'd post the formula except off the top of my head I can't put allies into the formula, and I'm too lazy to look it up.

each def ally gives 25% of its forces and allies can't more than double ally's forces (5m turrets on def ally don't help much if country has only few 100k).

Hmm I always use jets as 1. So troops are .5 turrets 1 tanks 2.

Government bonus and tech bonus are calculated separately ((govt*total)-total)+((tech*total)-total)

Also allies are calculated without tech or government bonus so base units*.25 for each ally to be safe.

I also would rather be lazy and check break through GHQ but don't have an issue on solo servers =\

yeah i use jet as 1, so i used troops at .6, turrets at 1 and tanks at 3 to calc break. I use this same method and its worked for me faily well with about 98% break success. But this one had me stumped.

I also thought def allies it was max 10%, but you are saying its 25% is that of their military or yours? IE If i have 1m turrets and my def ally has 4m turrets does that limit the max def I get from them up to 250k turrets or up to 1m turrets?

theirs added to yours and upto 1m and if you have 2nd ally then he/she doesn't help your fluff at all.

Each ally adds 25%, and at most they can double the break.

Why do you use the wrong values? 4 troops=1 tank @attacking and defending, 2 troops=1 jet for attacking and 2 troops=1 turret for defending.

Your problem is not that you failed one attack, your problem is that you calculate breaks wrong.
you say 98% successful attacks, but with what degree of oversend? You should work to fix your attack math on bots and countries without allies first.

Why even bother recounting it into troops? how hard is it really....

1 troop off/def
2 jets off
2 turrets def
4 tanks off/def

Nah. This wasn't mehul. Or even a pang. Just a miscalced break. Aka, as Jim danger said, a dict move.

Country was 145.6% weapons on a dict no allies.

227803 + (111215/2) + (12389X2) = 308189 before tech and bonus.

308189 X 145.6% tech = 448,723

448,723 X 125% dict bonus = 560,904 jet break

Protection from pang would be a hair over 600k to break. Its always better to actually calc the break than guestimate.

10% so i'd have sent 615k jets or even more.
