My high school science teacher was killed last night when his bicycle was hit by a car that was driven my one of his students that graduated on sunday. It feels odd ot think of him as being dead. I last saw him on Sunday when I went to watch my little sister graduate from high school.

I think the worst part was that his death was so horrifically pointless :(

a couple of things:

1.) this is why i think it's so fluffed up that our governments in aussie/Us continue to push our car culture purely for their own financial benefit... when community wise, it is the worst transport option. why can't people build decent bike paths, it's NOT that fluffing expensive!!!! fluff! seriously..

2.) fluff you dibs

3.) hope your allright paladin.

Sorry to hear this Pali, odd that he died by one of his students he taught to drive. Very sad.

I enjoy walking everywhere now a days. It actually opens up your eyes to the way drivers are. I see so many stupid drivers, and near misses while I am walking.

I live in a nice community and we have bike trails all over, literally hundreds of miles, and nice extra wide sidewalks. You would think that bikers would take advantage of this? NOPE! They still ride in the road like they are a car. I for one am boggled by this.

EDIT: Oh and sorry to hear about the loss Pallydan!

Bike paths wouldn't have mattered. He was out on the highway because he was training for RAGBRAI. Also we live in a small community. The town simply isn't big enough for large bike trails.

It passed through here in 2007. I have never seen so many bikes in my life. I missed meeting Lance Armstrong by a few minutes. :(
