$14 / day is a bit much. I pay about(in USD) $6.70/day for about 40 miles here in teh UK.

Check out some e-bikes. Some have a great range of use, and are definitely comparable in cost to what you are paying.

I know it's not a covered vehicle, but for the days when it's nice out, it can really cut the costs of transportation... without making you arrive at work all covered in sweat from pedaling. :(

$16.75 Train, Subway a day for me. $6.70 an hour. Which is 2.5 hrs I am actually on trains. Driving to station, waiting for lateness and walking some blocks. another .5 hrs.
Much cheaper for me to drive, but I don't like to drive bumper to bumper going 90 mpr anymore. My last accident pushed me over the edge and I relax now stead of feeling I'm in the Indy 500.

get a bicycle.

get a electric/motorbike then.

That's crazy, in Vancouver for an all day transit pass that includes skytrains, buses and the Seabus it's $9.

Alternatively you could go with rollerblades, and a local neighborhood child to tow you on their bicycle. lol.
