Detmer - How were Presidents???? I always wanted to see them!
Presidents were awesome. I saw them shortly after Love Everybody was released. It was Dawg Daze at the University of Washington and they were playing in front of the student union before Fall quarter started. Harvey Danger was playing with them. Due to the festival nature of the performance (open air stage, etc) I can't attest to what their other concerts are like, but they were very excited to be playing and very positive. (I contrast this to Harvey Danger who was cool, but aside from Cream and Bastards Rise and Flagpole Sitta (which they didn't want to play but was demanded by the crowd) they just weren't that cool. They were very cool though and started mixing Flag Pole Sitta with some President's stuff which was very hilarious.))
But yes, Presidents were great live. Fun between songs. Very easy to hear (unlike, say, Nirvana, where Kurt Cobain is unintelligible outside of the studio). I know I have seen a few other real bands in this sort of environment, but Presidents is the only group that stood out to me such that I can really remember them). (I have never been a big concert goer).... ah yes... for example Third Eye Blind played at FreakFest in Madison but that was unmemorable for me.
