your geography needs "bit" refreshing since those countries are central europe not northern europe.

Marshal: I am referring to North as opposed to South. If I divide the land mass in the middle (roughly) then they would fall on the northern half. If one were to divide Europe into quadrants they would be in the NW quadrant.
OF course what people commonly refer to as "central" or "west" is not necessarily technically correct but more of a collective notion of where something should be. We have that issue in Canada somewhat. I used to live in "northern" Alberta although if you divided the province in two it was actually in the southern half.

ps. My geography is just fine. Everywhere I intend to visit I can find on the map:P

air canada and ua would be cheapest from amsterdam to toronto and back, it would cost just under 650 euros (10-13 hrs flight).

Marshal check out canadian-affair.ca Getting to A'dam from Gatwick, Heathrow or Edinburgh is cheap (easy-jet, ryan air). You can get here and back for 400-500 CDN.
