Is there an optimum SDI level now?

When my sdi was at 78% it was working at that rate, I bought up to 86% and now every second missile is getting through.

Is there a SDI formula? or does the weather affect SDI effectiveness. How big is the randomness?

Maybe you should look up the definition of % :P

80% sdi sucks. you'll die in no time :p

try 85% or something

the % difference might not matter that much, but the amount of extra sdi your opponent have to burn away matters :)

Think of it as flipping a coin. Its a 50-50 chance that you get heads. When flipping said coin, it could land on heads 5 times in a row... but over the course of 100 flips, you'll see that heads lands nearly half the time. Now, if you do 100 flips of the coin 100 times, there will be some outliers where heads is flipped 60 times and some 40, but those are just outliers.

If you hae been hit by a decent amount of missles, calc the percentage that have been successful.

Yeah but the probability of getting 10 heads in a row is rather low @ 50%

I have studied probability. I was asking if they have changed how probability is handled.

20/100 missiles hit @ 76%

10/20 missiles hit @ 89%

This why I was questioning whether its just normal probability or whether there have been any changes.

EDIT: they have been talking about the random generator a fair bit, though not discrete details

function rand_zero_to_one(){
return (mt_rand()/mt_getrandmax());
}

The mt_rand() function ... uses a random number generator with known characteristics using the Mersenne Twister, which will produce random numbers four times faster than what the average libc rand() provides.

Does that affect SDI?

Higher SDI is more effective. The question has been raised before whether or not the formula is working right -- the answer is yes. The admins released a pretty large sample of missile attacks with SDI information and random chance factors.

I broke it down and was satisfied that there is no error in the formula.

Higher SDI is always more effective.

Missile success is affected by your SDI, a random factor, and how much trolling you do on the boards.

it's random for a reason, i once ate 8 nukes in a row at 85% sdi and another time i had only 20% sdi and only 1 went thru out of 6

the law of averages will be in your favor the more SDI you get =)

ahhhh. That one really got me laughing.

Evolution: The optimum % depends on your land. If you are on say 5k acres with 82%, that might be 250 chems. On the other hand 80% on 25k acres might only be 200 chems. The reason is how SDI is lost based upon blocked missiles. If you lose 1% of your total SDI points on 5k acres, you will lose a very small percentage of your SDI effectiveness while the reverse is true on high land.

This just means you'll dodge the next 80 missles launched. The wonderful world of probability, you just got the short stick in the beginning, now go get someone to launch another 80 at you, and you'll see the wonderful world at work.

Yeah it did, but probability doesn't work that way. its more like unrandom luck.

>.< I shouldn't have peed on the god of SDI.
