OK me and my boss are fighting over something. I know its against OSHA to climb out of a man lift to get on something else while in the air but I can't find it. Any help would be great

Thanks

Sometimes thats the only way to access something, but you would need proper harnassing and safety gear to possibly make it legit if not

This advisory letter I believe somewhat addresses your question:

https://www.osha.gov/...PRETATIONS&p_id=24311

OSHA standards do not prohibit employees from exiting or entering an aerial lift basket that rests on or adjacent to an elevated surface. Section 1926.453(b)(2)(v) requires that employees working from aerial lifts be tied-off. On the other hand, when employees move from the basket to the elevated surface, the requirements in 29 CFR Part 1926 Subpart M apply. In particular, §1926.501(b)(1) requires fall protection at 6 feet above a lower level. A worker may enter or exit an aerial lift (at heights above 6 feet) provided that fall protection such as guardrails or a fall arrest system is used while the worker moves between the lift and the working surface. A fall arrest system and its components must meet the criteria in §1926.502(d). During entry to and egress from the lift, a worker may tie-off to the lift (if the lift is designed to withstand the vertical and lateral loads imposed by the employee's movement itself or by an arrested fall) or to an appropriate nearby structure.

Nice. AT posting while in and out of an aerial lift at least 25 feetin the air. Productivity is ahead of schedule over there... no? You might want to put fall protection on for sure. Ffs

With all the variabes that come with getting paid to ask bullfluff work related fluff here consider looking for another job b4 you get fired. Go buy fall protection.

Fall protection is mandatory in the province I work in just to enter a aerial life platform of any kind, it is "against" code to step out of one but sometimes the rules can be bent as long as its documented and safety is notified before hand.

looking on my phone was hard at the time. Sigma posted the exact one I needed. I do not always have to do it, but I have to climb out of a man lift and go inside a vessel (a confined space) to clean it every few days or so it seems.

was just curious as we bicker about the legal matters. He told me I had to climb through the middle of the rails. That is wrong with some of the info I have found there. The way everything is worded is sorta confusing as well, oh well.

As long as you are practicing 100% tie off (i.e. two lanyards) you can utilize a lift basket to access an elevated working surface.
