I've begun writing a guide for the official Earth Empires IRC server (irc.earthempires.com). Right now, it's got pretty much all the basics you need to setup channels. There is definitely more coming, but this will be enough to get anyone started.

http://wiki.earthempires.com/index.php/IRC is an IRC primer. This is a great starting point for new players who don't have experience with IRC.

http://wiki.earthempires.com/index.php/IRC_services is the guide for irc.earthempires.com channel services (NickServ, ChanServ, etc.) At this point, it is still incomplete, but it is enough to get a channel started.

http://wiki.earthempires.com/index.php/IRC_directory is a directory of public IRC channels like alliance and news channels. Although I'm sure it is not 100% complete, please help by adding your server to the list if it's not there. If wiki editing isn't your thing, talk to me in #earthempires, or pm me on the forums. I'll be happy to add it for you.

Thats great aponic! By all means upload them to the wiki and make an mIRC help page to go along with it. There are a few things I'll add to it as well such as a script for connecting to multiple servers at startup (and a few other tidbits of information which would be helpful). If you need a hand with it, drop by #wiki on the EE irc server and we can talk.

I will be happy to give you the information, pictures, etc, but I am not willing to construct anything on the wiki. Sorry for the confusion.

Side note about the Irc when facebook is implemented...

If you expect a wide range of different people to start playing Earth Empires when you launch Facebook I suggest you start thinking about being a little more strict of what is said in the channel.
Right now I would say its very adult nature, and if you expect children to start playing the game you should try to have your mods in the channel be a little more strict to make it safe for a family atmosphere.

facebook isn't for kids

Demographics of facebook covers children. There are ALOT of children that use facebook. If you think Earth Empires is going to only attract teens, you may want some age warnings if you do not want that type of player playing the game so that you cover your butts.

Imagine a 13 year old playing with there mother, they join mirc chat to ask for help and you have other players swearing and linking R stuff. I bet you Earth Empires will be pulled pretty fast off facebook.
