... and have it auto scroll to the last post viewed when clicking on the thread link.... this would make reading the forums a lot nicer

please explain what you mean?

If I read a thread and come back in an hour, the tread should show how many new posts have been made in parenthesis. This would prevent me from having to scroll through the entire thread to my last post, or in the event that I did no post, simply re-read a lot of rubbish to find my place.

ah hmmm that would require storing when each person clicked on each thread and how far in they made it...

you just have to store the threads read and the timestamp each was accessed... you have the accounts already
