I realize why the change was made and I agree with the premise of it.. but dont you think $5mill cash for 100buildings at 7K+ acres is a bit much? Targeting traders doesnt require an increase in build costs at the lower acres like this. It is just a tad ridiculous imo.

it's almost exactly equal at 5kA and is approximately equal at 7kA

I understood that it was passed around 3-4k and just went up from there. What about 10k/20k? Is it a fair bit higher at those nws? Perhaps I should have payed more attention to building costs before if I am wrong.

You are quite mistaken. They are equal only at 4541 acres (at $15123).

He's not so mistaken. At 5k land, $17290 and $16500 are "almost exactly equal." For example, say at 5k land you have 2.5k empty acres after a batch explore. The cost difference to build that 2.5k acres is less than $2m between old and new formulas.

So I was about right... so 10k more at 10k acres.. bleh. Not quite as big as I thought but still an odd change imo. Was there a reason you did it at low acres as well or wsa that just the easiest way for the formula to work for you?

What part of the English "almost exactly equal" escapes you?

@blid @crest23

At 5k acres, the building cost difference is 16500 and 17290. At no point in my vocabulary is a difference of 4.7% "almost exactly equal". If it was within 1% difference, then maybe, I'll give you that.

Furthermore, the point where the 2 formulas are equal is at 4541a, 5000a is off by more than 10%. On top of that, qz's claim that they are "approximately equal" at 7k acres is even further off than at 5k acres, the building costs are 19.4% larger than the old formula by then.

I should counter ask, how is a difference of 19.4% considered "approximately equal" to you?

Yea, it was to make the formula work in a more elegant fashion... I don't like step functions or piecewise functions

Round 1.194 to the closest integer. 1 is approximately equal to 1.194 does that help?

According to your logic, a 50k country now would have approximately the same building with the old/new formulas. But yeah ok.
