dunno how this would play out but for a commie or possibly other strats it could be beneficial to buy or sell land.

Could be sold as unbuilt or built land
cap the amount that can be placed on the market at 25%.
make it so land cannot be grabbed while on the market
land-grab returns are calculated based on land not on the market.

additional notes and personal thoughts:
A land grabber could resell a portion of the land they grabbed.

early and end of set this could bring in some really nice income. Countries looking to destock faster may be willing to buy extra land if the prices were right.

just curious on what an acre of earth empires real-estate would be worth on the public market...

could possibly open the door to some new strats

each country can buy a limited amount of land per day equal to CURRENT LAND * 0.05.
A country of 20,000 acres that never explores (cash turns) would end up at 21k acres.

DAY 1 20000+1000
DAY 2 21000+1050
DAY 3 22050+1103
DAY 4 23153+1108
Entire convert phase made 4,1k acres

Demos would be the ones dumping their land at the end of each round. Theos would mostly be the ones buying it.

I suppose republic would have a new strategy.

hmm perhaps lift part of this restriction toward the end of the reset or up the amount to CURRENT LAND * 0.25...

More for a theo who stocks on 8-9k acres and wants to double or triple their land. They would be able to tech earlier and longer, even with a mid set conversion they would be @ goal acres faster especially if the acres were bought pre-built.

... a 2k acre rep rainbow might end up being a powerhouse :)
--- you could waste 10 turns bottom feeding for 200-400 acres.
--- or you can buy them pre-built from a low acre country cheap.
--- or at least significantly cheaper then cost of military/oil and building those acres out yourself. Not to mention cost of production turns especially cashers and techers. 10 turns could cost 100 mil

.8 mil to build 100 acres sell for 40 mil ... 3 turn explore + 1 turn build that almost 10 mil per turn playing land baron. and then explore or land grab end of reset while jumping in networth.

of course there will still be those who hit and farm other countries and will see this as just an extra avenue to get more land. But it should slow down some of the multiple hits on the servers.

Demo Farmers would definitely benefit from the land sale if they explored or hit all set for more land. Land grabbers sitting on 50K acres could trim their countries to 25-30K and maybe pickup a couple extra million. Just depends on what those acres are worth.
