Tournaments that can determine winners with a cash reward - everyone put in a few $$ and the winner gets a payout, and the site gets to keep some

100 countries each pay in $2. EE keeps $50 and payouts of $75, $50, $25 to the top three finishers. That means that 20 players who collaborated to get somebody the #1 spot would be able to get $3.75 each - or more realistically 5 people working together to get $15 each.

that math works Detmer and sure people may collaborate - but heck it will add more dimensions to the game and the site benefits which is the most important thing - put a few $$$ to some marketing to get new players

This will also allow the game to attract different types of players instead of the current population

I am pretty sure the game has stuck around because the people in the community like each other. If tomorrow I was playing this game with 1000 strangers I'd actually retire for good tomorrow without any second thoughts.

I think everyone`s point is very valid. I also think that this game is more fun with more people.

What I am saying is very valid - we do not attact numbers. The same core, is the same core...and its a great core, but this game can be so much more. Its different and unique, and has history and personality. It just does not have the spin yet

I think you vastly overestimate a browser based text based turn based game. The target market for that is extremely small and nostalgic (is that a word?) based.

This isn't an app on your smart phone, the room for mass recruitment is pretty small. This is not a defeatism attitude, it's just a reality that most have accepted and are ok with.

a ton of people doesn't mean much now-a-days. just means you know 3 people who weight around 667 lbs each. has something to do with inflation or gluttony, maybe thyroid disorders.

Not that I read the entire thread, but this is viable if you add a tag of bot countries and only let allow hits on those without player interaction outside of the market.
