when someone uses a standing order to buy one of the cheaper techs you can see a huge volume of tiny tech sales

because the bots tech less of the techs that are cheaper

so you get masses of 20 to 30 purchases, which when they are at the same price isnt too bad buying on the market, but quite often its

770 772 775 780 783 and so on, meaning you have to uses orders and wait 1 minute to play rather than just buying

thats not the biggest deal, and neither is the mass spam on market channels which break up each individual sale on a SO into its own line then throttle sending at 1 per second

but raising bot minimum sales from 10 to say 100 might be worth looking at

I think it will have unintended consequences and I'd rather see bots round their sale price to the closest $10 which would result in larger chunks of tech at fewer prices. Could do closest $20 if $10 is not enough.

10 price brackets would be a nice change

not seeing a problem with min sales going from 10 to 100 as well though

worst case you have a bot with 399 tech in 11 categories unsold

that would be 1100 tech sold at say 3k for 3.3m

not selling is better than such a poor sale most of the time

perhaps most likely case would be bots selling about 5 techs in normal volumes and 6 extra techs not being sold as often, because those are the low volume techs bots tend to undercut each other so you might have more expensive low volume techs for a bit that than get teched more and then drop in price anyway just a bit slower with higher volumes produced

They already have a limit for how much total tech they must sell so its not like they are wasting turns on selling 10 tech total. That is coded in the techer bot code.

The code has a set of conditions for when to tech, sell, explore, build CS or build labs and the issue in the past, and indeed recently on some sets depending on market conditions and perhaps chance, has been that some bots run into a dead end of money shortages which the logic is not sufficient to take them out of, or at least not in an efficient fashion. So anything that removes especially early income from techers is dangerous imo. Balancing techer bots logic has always been problematic so messing with it is not safe.

You could even do $50 price jumps to remove the small batch issue completely for the players... I mean it won't help on browsing market news from SOs but it will completely remove the issue when buying manually, which is what you were talking about.
