It's annoying as heck to be stocking and cash 40 turns or something and have an earthquake happen on the second turn. How can we fix this? Can we have an option to not continue with the rest of the turns cashing as planned? A bad solution would be if an earthquake happens to stop the rest of turns planned since this would F over bulk explore...

Another option is to just remove earthquakes I don't feel like they add much to gameplay

Easy fix: Don't Cash 40 turns at once.

Honestly if you are cashing 40 turns at once you aren't being optimal at all, so why do you care if an earthquake happens at turn 3 or 39? You aren't playing to win so why care?

I suspect that he thinks that buying food every turn is necessary to win.

Not to win, but to optimize

If you are going to cry over an earthquake blowing some buildings and reducing your cash per turn in 4% then you should be running your turns in batches of 10 or less.

I am all for making the game newb friendly, but certainly not noob friendly.

Earthquakes not taking effect while teching (YES)
Why? Because that used to lead to wasted turns.

On everything else (NO)
Why? Because it will never lead to the unintentional use of turns.

So you lost 8m cash? Why should anyone care, you wanted to run 40 turns at once, you took a gamble for the lazy and you lost game cash, now go and cry me a river.

Nope, I just like trolling people.

Oh and I really don't like when the game holds my hand and saves me from making mistakes.

Strategy games are all about the mistakes you make, some can be catastrophic while others can be almost unnoticeable, but is the sum of all of them that defines the outcome.

i haven't teched in quite some time, but i am pretty sure if i have a tpt of 1000 and i tech ten turns and on the first turn i have an earthquake reducing my tpt to 950 i get those ten turns at 1000tpt, and i waste no turns.

when cashing, and buying food to stockpile, how is it better to buy and sell small batches a hundred-two hundred million dollars at a time rather than the bulk at a billion? i fail to see how it optimizes or helps or benefits anything..

Marshal, they can occur when using two turns in a row, as well. I think 3, too, but now this is just anecdotal..

tpt won't change during those turns spent on teching if eq happens.

Food decays at 0.1% per turn, so if you bulk buy 3 mil food at a go, you are decaying 3000 food per turn while cashing, whereas if you only buy 1 mil food and cash 1/3 as many turns, and do this 3 times, you decay 0.1% less over 1 mil food, and 0.1% less over 2 mil food because those food weren't in your country in the first 1/3 and 2/3 of your turns respectively.

It's very minor, but can be worth optimizing in chunks of 10 turns (chunks of 1 turn would be ridiculous).

thank you, i was wondering and that seems pretty reasonable, i can only imagine he was thinking along those lines as well. an interesting concept, i often cash a hundred turns at once.. woops :P

Thank you!!!

I don't know why everyone assumed I wasn't talking about bushel decay and such.

And again if you are going to cash 40 turns at once (with +2m bushels on hand) then you don't deserve to complain about EQ at turn 2.

Back in earth 2025 (2001?). Teching 10 turns for say 10000 tech points and getting a EQ in the middle of teching would result in 11 turns wasted for 10000 tech points, but that was changed long before earth 2025 went under :/

lol just because someone doesn't care about bushel decay doesn't mean they're not aiming to win. i.e. using 50 turns at once with 5m bushels on hand is a loss of about 125k bushels which is only about 17.5k nw
