on boxcar, we can watch market data update in (basically) 'real time'.. why can't we have a static game interface at the top of any page which shows us our current status. it could even be used to highlight someone when their country name appears in news feeds. We shouldn't need to rely on IRC highlights to know when we're being attacked.

hrmz. its not a -bad- suggestion.

Mmm we won't be doing anything that involves hundreds of people having js scripts that ping the server every second.

We've talked about doing something using web sockets, but that's completely different.

maybe not every second, you obviously don't want to ddos yourself.. I never thought about sockets :).
