Just wanted to share... I feel the same way although it hasn't (yet) driven me from the game... We lost a member this set... Here is their post:

"I'm not playing this/next reset.
The "jump through hoops to get the bonus" is killing the fun for me. So unless you're able to login at all times to get the bonus, you always have an disadvantage. "

The bonuses are getting ridiculous. Captchas for two of them (plus usually a 3rd to login to the actual game) and now a math problem for the last one. It seriously makes this game less fun. Seriously.

its called a bonus for a reason. you do not always get it, nor always have to gain them. they are not guaranteed to be acquired, because its a bonus, whether the reason is you missing or the bonus site is down.

LI: its a known fact that if you log in regularly and always go for the bonuses, you get bonuses. If you get bonuses and other players don't get them, you have an advantage.

Therefore, it isn't some "random" thing. It is a "game mechanic", in fact. And, as a game mechanic, if you want to be the best possible, you need to get the bonuses.

I don't think the player who left us is the only one who feels compelled to try for the bonuses to compete and at the same time finds the captchas ridiculously annoying.

If you dont have the time to login once a day to enter a few letters or do a simple calculation such as 2+3, dont play this game.

the point of bonuses are to increase the playerbase. we do consider changes to the system, but we have no plans to remove it.

Conceivably people go to those sites to look for games to play and see Earth Empires listed on there with a lot of votes and give it a shot.

That was/is kindof part of our plan, but there were a few things to do before that

unless you cant read captcha's and/or don't know what 2+1 is

3rd bonus takes ~10 secs but 1st 2 require ~30 secs or more depending captcha.

no. captchas i get are two 5+ letter words and its not that easy sometimes to figure if letter is a, u or o.

Basic point was that it is a PITA and makes people enjoy playing less. But I think qz already answered that we're getting more players than we're losing so I guess fresh meat is worth the burned-out player loss.

maybe if you didnt count on the bonuses for your strat crest there wouldn't be a problem

use them for what they are.... BONUSES!!!

When I talk to pang next I'll ask him for some of his reserve bonus sites to fix the bonus site issue; though lately it's been fine for me =/
