He probably assumes current set country is not shown only previous sets. I doubt pang will ever make profiles open because it opens another can of worms: making new accounts to remain anonymous.

current prefs allow to see past countries so not helping on current set where some "wiseguy" is suiciding but leaderboard updates once a day so via lb suiciders can be tracked (not easy but still since a lot players can be skipped as not guilty).

ah gotcha. Was not making sense but making the leaderboard update at the end of the reset would be a double edge sword, but as you mentioned they could create a new account.

Yeah the only real solution to suciders is to code it out of the game or nerf it w/ code. IMO

well what people wanted to happen was only allow suiciding on countries that had done something to you, without making it impossible to grab normally

the proposal that cam up would have stopped suiciding if you bought some amount of defence but wouldnt have allowed you to grab normally

the problem with the proposed suiciding restriction is it needed a way to be bypassed for wars

so with the formal war system taking longer to implement a largely useless solution was almost implemented instead. and at least from my viewpoint the risk of the imo useless system preventing a better system later was too high

as well as providing justification to suiciders "you didnt use the protection so you deserved it" which already happens a little with the express system

incidentally the last thought i have about the express system was it could apply by default to new accounts for a limited period of time to prevent new accounts being made to suicide, particularly if profiles became more open

the problem is the risk of using it to identify countries you want to suicide

i think you can have past countries identified without open profile but right now mine is set to just show open statuses of my past countries
