Specialize - you can go farmer (all farms), oiler (all oil rigs), indy (all Ind'y complexes), casher (50/50 split of EZ and Residences), or techer (all research labs). I wouldn't suggest techer to a new player though.

Rainbowing (a mishmash of all kinds of buildings) is not optimal.
