If you don't join GDI stuff like that will happen 1/3 sets or so.

If its not an unprovoked kill run it's a midgame-lategame missile rain and/or AB barrage that is unprovoked.

I play without GDI sometimes, if I care I will set highlights.

well, ya see, I dont personally care if I end with a high nw lol, as long as I can keep him occupied and away from the ones truly trying to earn that #1 spot, I am happy to do so
