yea basics are same but a lot has changed under hood. head to announcements and read all changesets thru and if you still want to play find some alliance to teach you the ropes.

KoH i rememebr that name ...i was part of the huge multi fest ... res dogs and TGA LaF Ragnarok.. wayyyy back .. before the tournement servers is Patel still the owner?

I didn't start playing 1a til recently, I did briefly between 2014 & 15 and was in DKnights and XI (FFA), previous to that was from 97 to the end of FFA under Swirve.
