any thoughts about it? criticisms, evaluations, etc...
i did order one, so feel free to laugh at me. :-P
i think it'll do what i need it to without collecting too much dust.

hmmm, anybody know if it should be able to play Battlefield 1942: Desert Combat? hmmm, for that matter, i think the most advanced PC game that i have is Battlefield:Vietnam... wonder if it'll be able to play that.

1st Dell was an Inspiron 8100, which i would probably be using for internet, but the hinges for the lid broke after 8 years of use.
2nd Dell was an XPS Desktop 1,000 BTU heater that tripped the circuit breakers, gave it to my brother-in-law.
3rd Dell is this 700m which is now my internet computer.
4th Dell is a Mini 9, which is devoted to my sober moments and work.

w7 runs most progs which work at xp but some apps aren't working so either w7 version needed or other program which does same and works on w7.

w7 prof. has xp virtual machine, some say it can be installed on w7 home.

i don't really want to spend another $200 just to get w7 Pro so it can pretend to run XP really slow. just worried about it turning into an expensive alarm clock. maybe it's just a gimmick to get people to upgrade MS Office. they been trying to get me to do that for years.

well, the duo is definitely the sexiest computer that i have, but i should've thought a bit more about it's lack of a LAN port. i accidently excluded all my computers from my wireless network while adding it's MAC addy to the allow list. probably won't matter once the JBL docking thingie get shipped.

i'm currently creating my Recovery DVDs, kinda makes me feel like a Pirate. Avast Ye Maties! Rrrrrrr! don't understand why they can't send a $1 DVD with the computer. wtf?

nice to have the -/_ key back on the home row.
feels like a good portion of the case is made out of metal, imagine that. thought it was going to be a plastic paperweight.

what? i'm burning a DVD for 190M of Driver data... i gotta be flipping nuttz... that's crazy.

every buck saved is profit for manufacturers.

that's 1 of main reasons why i buy custom comps, no need to burn recovery discs since i buy os disc with parts.

for example nvidia's driver package is around 130 megs, asus chipset drivers package is 190 megs so ..........

they didn't need to send a disk, because the bios is hardwired to only boot from the harddrive. why did i even bother with burning disks that can't be booted? there had better be some hellacious protection of my boot record or whatever this thing uses to boot up with.

that's typical from manufacturers, if hd breaks then its either get new or pay big bucks to them to get it fixed.

meh, it does play Xexa, has Mahjong Titans and looks awesome.
would be nice to do a clean install to get rid of the extras, but it might be better if i take the time to see what they are.

but i never got a marriage license. how can you take it away, if i haven't gotten it yet?

yes, Xena Warrior Princess!!!! no idea why i like it though, probably something to do with boobies.

oh, and it looks like the duo is going to be on for the next 100+ hours. something is goofy with Zune downloading my videos. not sure if it's my economy internet which is capped at 1Mbps, my ancient router, or aliens trying to kidnap my Xena episodes.

hehe, i dunno what that is or what it does, but i'm fairly certain that the problem doesn't have anything to do with my computer. it downloads slow on the 360 too. my network utilization is at like 3%, so it's probably Comcast trying to choke my video bandwidth to death because they can't charge me over and over for services that they only had to perform once.

i'm not really worried about it because i finally have a reason to upgrade my wireless router, the duo can do N, everything else i have is stuck with b or g.

ahh, but i can do that while learning how to use a touch screen. this is the first computer where Dell didn't give me a system CD or DVD. thought it was something that would speed up my downloads.

those trials uninstallers won't remove all crap (for example norton might leave some parts of it on comp and interfere with another security prog).

you might want to check on hardware properties what duplex your network card uses and/or change frequency your modem uses since there might be too many others using same freq.

*tolkien rings Marshall*, err, *token rings Marshall*

i dunno, i have multiple problems going with Zune, it's taking a long time to download and it's creating sync files for a device that i haven't even connected yet, which could be the reason for why it's taking so long to download. the dang sync file is like 80% of the original file. why even bother...

but it's still way too dang slow even with Comcast capping me to 1Mbps. that's basically 1 megabyte of data every 8 seconds. say i give 20% to the headers or whatever they are called, i get 1 megabyte every 10 seconds, so, 6 megabytes per minute. hmmm, how i do that x 60 dealy-bob... um, 360 megabytes per hour.. oh crap, actually, i might be downloading a bit faster than that. my bad.
