Command and Conquer? Great RTS!

CaptainTenacious - Run them in compatibility mode for the OS they were designed for (right click the .exe game file, and click "Compatibility Mode...")

You ever try the NWP mod?

If you haven't go here to get it:

http://forums.navalwarfare.net/...AND-NAVAL-WARFARE-PROJECT

Th mod presently includes one mission that I designed. It is a revision of the "Ancient Rivalry" scenario. Though Whenever I play through my version all I see is flaws in how I went about changing the mission, so I am working on revising it again. I always have several other missions that I have designed for the mod, but I haven't submitted them for inclusion yet. I need to find the time to finish, and test them.

Red Alert 1--The Aftermath. Set it in Windows 95/98 Compatibility mode...

You'll need to be really quick on building stuff and setting up defenses because everything seems to go so much faster in a Win XP system...

I used to build maps that were like 98% ore fields, one river running through the middle of it, 2 players, and have massive bases with lines of turrets, SAM sites, and pillboxes 6 or 7 deep surrounding them (usually protected by the river which had very few ways of crossing it)...The enemy would field huge masses of tanks and troops (thus slowing my system down to a crawl), and they'd all get mowed down by my defenses (and speeding my system back up). I'd have to send out tanks to kill those annoying v2 launchers, which were just out of range of my turrets. Then the ore fields would run dry, and I'd have to sell stuff to get my army back to fighting strength for that final push into the enemy's base.
I am a troll. Everything I say must be assumed to be said solely to provoke an exaggerated reaction to the current topic. I fully intend to bring absolutely no substance to any discussion, ongoing or otherwise. Conversing with me is pointless.

"Dungeon Keeper
Dungeon Keeper II"

you may need the patches to run these, theres problems with them on WinXp and Win Vista :X

Age of Empires was free for a while, I think there was a special with Warcraft II at one stage as well.

I bought C&C for my PSP but it doesn't have saves just passwords which sucks :X

Hmmm let me think, probably the first rts games I played on PC, when our family got a pc at home were Total Annhilation and Age of Empires. Our first pentium 1, would lag so hard on those games.
