Nice job aqua! Glad you got this one. Nice set also for my bud Reroll - still the best player never to win, with the footnote that he could've won last set and overslept, haha.

I was #28. only the second best farmer!

And also the most ironic country name (possibly the most obscure, too).

Congrats aqua! Afaik just edges out serp for best c/i. Def. was a set for casher, but fairly well balanced I count
3 cashers
2 c/i
2 techer
2 farmers
in the 9 to make 100M.

It did in a way, food was too high to stockpile so might as well keep growing to take advantage of the military prices. SUPER NINJA retal cost me a lot.

Food was high? I must have missed that. Food sucked so bad I was surprised any farmers made it through to the top ten but their land was good.

Food was garbage Reroll! It hardly got above $40 all round!

Yeah, I think SUPER NINJA's crazy retal... is what cost you the top spot.

Is all good. Usually I'll hit targets way smaller than yours. Took a little risk just trying to keep up with aqua. Was going heavy on turrets to avoid retals but just didn't expect you got through even with 40m turrets.

IMO, food is on the high side for me to stockpile when it touches 40, it make more sense for me to keep growing to be around 65k-75k acres. As a farmer yeah 40 isn't a high number.

Blid, despite the low bushel prices you did well.

Afaik should have beat me by more than that. He and bakku got a little something extra over me still in their Indy strat. I still can't figure out how they were getting into the 140-160m range with their indies. 110m seems top for mine unless I can alter something. Well played everyone.

No, it doesn't make sense for you to keep growing. Try looking at building costs. When buildings cost you $180k, its better to buy food for $45 than to gain land to build a building for $180k if there's only a couple weeks left in the set.

Always came into my mind that it isnt worth it when I'm loosing 20%-30% of my revenue when stockpiling bushels @ 40 or higher. Aqua did stockpile way earlier than me and I would expect him to lead at least 8m in NW (spied him when I was stockpiling) but the end result was otherwise. So I'm wondering if aqua did something wrong during his destock phase or he purchased bushels at a high price during stockpiling phase.

Maybe I should re-visit this again. Thanks for the tip Rockman.

If your income per acre is $600, then you'll make about $30k per day on an acre. Just for build costs at 60k acres, it will take 6 days to cover the building costs. If you need 40 tech points for each acre, and you pay $1200 for tech that is worth $600 at the end, that costs you another $24k per acre, which adds almost another day. Add in losing maybe 500 jets to gain an acre, and the 240 oil barrels to go with it, that would add another 60k and 48k, which would add another 3 and a half days just to recover the income. Then factor in spending the turns building instead of cashing, and it adds even more time. You can then multiply it by 2/3rds at the end to account for the inefficiency of buying food at $50 and selling at $35. But even then you're oversimplifying, because making a grab and then stocking won't result in buying all your stock at $35. There's a lot to factor in, but it becomes clear that late grabs have such minimal benefit.

And that does not factor in the risk one takes by grabbing someone that might successfully retal you, or even just try to retal you and fail, and still kill a few million turrets.

Of course, the numbers will be different depending on the tech amounts one keeps, the amount of military one loses in a grab, the current food, tech, military, and oil prices, the type of buildings one gains in the grab, etc.

But even with zero risk of retaliation, its about 10-14 days left when top countries should not be grabbing anymore because it isn't worth it.

With about 3 weeks left, the benefits are minimal, but still positive. But given the fairly minimal benefits compared to just stocking, the risks taken that close to the end should be minimized, rather than taking more risk when there's less gain. Given how many people have stockpiles late in the set, grabs in the last 3 weeks tend to carry with them an inherently higher risk.

A grab on SuperNinja done with about 2 weeks left provided minimal benefit. Of the 14 days left, it would take probably 10 days before the grab provided a net benefit for you. It may seem like 14 more days of having another 3k acres, but when 10 of those days are spent recovering the costs of gaining those 3k acres, its really only 4 more days of having another 3k acres. And of course, it carried the risk that you might get retalled and lose 4.5k acres and a bunch of turrets and tech.

Thanks for putting the figures up, I understand your explainations but the end result proven otherwise. Despite me being retaled, LGing 1 1/2 weeks before the set ended and stockpiled way later than Aqua, I'm still able to keep up (like I mentioned earlier when I spied on Aqua during my stockpile phase he has 3billion more than what I had). Our land size is more or less the same so i would estimate aqua to have at least 8m NW over me easily. (not to mentioned I have higher NW than him during my stockpile phase so my expenses would be more)

Which leads me to think that whether did he messed up a little during destock phase? Or is it because he stockpile early but during that time bushel proce were @ 42. Anyone can throw in some ideas?
