I just lost $14m on food. :( after I grabbed a guy I realized he could probably retal, and my tech is stuck on the market. I used most of my money buikding labs. According to eestats he is due to be logging in about now, so I sold 2m busheks on my pm to buy turrets. If I keep the land it will be worth it.

Not a very good time to start stocking =p unless you're just trying to make farmers happy haha.
Reasons being:
1. Food decay
2. Hiding it on market is annoying

You forgot the most important reason
3. Better to invest it in growth

Manny it looks like you're responsible for someone's busted set.

I have been ferreting away bushels and barrels while they are low priced. I have close to enough oil for the rest of the set now, all purchased <$115, same deal with the food, I repeatedly cleared $30-$33 food while it was available. Hiding it on the market hasn't hurt me yet.

Blid, invest it how? I don't want to buy more military, I don't need the expenses. I don't buy tech. I just bumped my grabbing schedule to 3 ps/day.

He's saying if you are able to buy more military, you can grab larger countries (more land for the same number of turns), or grab more times (say 4 instead of 3), and compound your growth rate. This way, you reach your stocking land goal faster by maybe a day or two, and that extra day or two of stocking is way more food than what you get flipping $30-$33 bushels.

How do you sell to the private market vs the public market?

"Purchases" menu is your private market.

Bottom of 'purchase' page is a 'sell military' button, you can sell food there.

I'm surprised #90 hasn't had a proper missile shower, with their no GDI as well as hitting a few countries more than once. I guess Primary is more forgiving than Express.

I played a no gdi dictator a few rounds ago on 50k acres and no random missle shower.

Element of luck =p

Because players can't just hoard 360 turns and go full ham. You only get 54 turns a day, spend them wisely.

I flipped 300k barrels bought at $80 for $218, and earlier, a few barrels at $350+.
1.1 days ago
You sold 20,000 Oil Barrels for $4,098,400.
177,251 Oil Barrels remain for sale.

Sep 20, 8:16
You sold 10,000 Oil Barrels for $3,290,000.
90,000 Oil Barrels remain for sale.

And I flipped some $33 bushels at $72:

Sep 14, 19:10
You sold 100,000 Bushels for $6,768,000.
820,000 Bushels remain for sale.

So I disgree with blid, H2O and Xinhuan about early stocking. Early stocking is worthwhile if you can use it to gamble and win.

Is that really stocking? Seems like just reselling...

if you have some spare cash, reselling is always good. But is the profits more worth it than investing in more tech which will help you in the long run? I doubt so. And the chance of pulling off a neat profit from reselling is also not 100%. I would chose something more certain (investing the spare cash in tech that certainly helps you in the long run) than to gamble for a resale profit.

@Getafix Sure, but that's what I call gambling.

Reselling requires you to stock first.

I've often thought of doing this early with food and oil, but then I never ended up doing it because the money is better spent buying military/tech to grow. You just spent 50m on the oil/food, but spending that money on jets for an extra grab will pay off a lot more throughout the remaining 37 days. Doing an extra PS today is worth more than getting that same land tmrw regardless of turns spent or not (due to 20 hr wait time for PS).

Also add to the fact that you won't be able to sell most of that oil/food for profit for days so your stuff gets stuck on market and you don't have that cash in hand to buy tech/jets and it compounds. So even though you profited some, there's still $37m you could have used for tech/jets.

I just calculated my total market sales for the game (including the 2m bushels that just sold in th $90's). They total $255.6m

I'm a rep casher. I'll estimate my profit after commissions at 100%, so I made about $125m so far.

I don't know if more jets and military would have been a better investment; I did invest in those and I'm pretty diversified. I still think that some stocking is a good gamble. Its paid off this set and it often does.

What he said.

Also, I seem to have suddenly forgotten a variable in my grabbing calls. Wtf.
