So when should someone start attacking for land vs exploring? I know there are a lot of variable, but I assume it gets incredible inefficient to keep exploring at some point.

Usually when the explore rate goes below 20 acres per turn.

I don't explore for less than 45 normally.

take in cost to grab (units,oil) risk of a successful retal as to wether you will keep enough land to make a profit off the costs, plus cost of lost buildings if said hit is retalled.

but pretty much 5000 acres and up you should be grabbing from there.

For me it is usually after exploration nets less than 20 acres per turn.

There are all explore options, too (good for farmers, Indy, and cashers). The key is to make sure you can defend your land.

I see a lot of players beginning to grab way too early.

Unless you are techer or tech starter I see nothing wrong with exploring to 10-12k acres even. Most would be better off for it. they can afford more tech, make sure not to get retalled and also conserve the single-tap targets for longer.

A lot of players begin by landtrading a bit and it's costly so their techs stay low then they start to get hit by the people who played more efficiently.

of course, that's common tactic on soloservers, few 100 acres grab is later retalled with few k acres grab.

tactical land grabbing is and always will be a skill that separates the elite from the pack

it isn't a statistical reason that the same few people keep constantly finishing in the top 10 set after set...is it
