How dare they employ 287,000 people and pay $2.5 billion worth of dividends to their investors this year.

Any guesses on top 10 cutoff this reset?

I'm gonna guess 207 million NW will get you a top 10 this reset.

Also interest in how many non-EVO / LaF countries will be in the top 10?

Hrmm...I still think that is too low hanlong. There should be at least 2 in LaF who surpass 200 m NW (one already has) and I'm pretty sure EVO will have at least 6 over 200 m NW. It'll be interesting to see what happens!

I'm guessing 195m NW is the top 10 cut off. I'm thinking that there will be at least 7 players over 200 m NW.

Diez, Slagpit, Osso, Lenshark, afaik, florian, BobbyATA and qz-jul (and many others!) are always in contention for a top 10 in EVO.

LT, SS, samxz, trep, highrock, alicia all are great players too.

(4) Collab 95 m NW

I was pretty darn close with my predictions. :)

Some comments:

(1) LaF slayed it with 6 out of the top 10. Dang!

(2) I was disappointed with Omega's netting performance. I was expecting a lot more out of them (obviously, given that I picked them to come in 2nd in ANW).

(3) *pats self on back for almost nailing it on the head in guessing 119 M ANW for Evo* :P

H4xOr WaNgEr - I'm not a statistics person, so I can't really argue what you were saying about using Median vs. a Mean. I suppose my point was more towards measuring the netting abilities of active countries versus inactive countries.

I think it would be cool to have another way to measure netting prowess of an alliance and add a "Median Country" level.

SS - to your point #1, we can agree to disagree what "inactive" means. Like I said, if the person is playing their country and wants to finish the reset, EVO let's them do that, even if their country isn't where we want it. If the person isn't playing and doesn't want to finish the reset, then we detag.

To address some of the concerns about Evo:

(1) Evo has detagged 5 members this reset. Two came early in the reset for being inactive (which most alliances don't have a problem with IMO). I do agree with you that we dropped 3 of our inactives too late in the reset. We are working on implementing better policy to drop inactives at least 2 weeks prior to the end of the reset.

(2) The intra-farming late was not authorized by EVO leaders and the offending member was spoken to about his actions. We don't condone what happened.

(3) If you'll notice, however, that we don't drop our Members that are active but may bring out average networth down. To me, what the average NW title is about is the caliber of the typical member in the alliance ASSUMING they are active. We won't drop our worst 5 players simply to win an ANW title if they are trying their best and playing their countries.

* * *

Anyway - I think the ANW title will be much closer than I anticipated. And I'm a little disappointed in Omega's showing - I thought they would put up more of a battle; I'm always impressed by their all-explore countries.

And does look like LaF will have 6 in the top 10 - dang nice showing!

I agree with highrock - I think 200m is a little high for a top 10 cutoff. Heck, last reset 160 m NW was good enough for top 10. I think the top 10 results will be more similar to the Dec-Feb 2011 reset.

I don't play Primary so I don't know all of its intricacies, but you have a decent looking country.

I would up your tank count by quite a bit. It looks like you're grabbing (since you have jets), so your set could be ruined fairly quickly by a suicider with 250k tanks aimed at you.

NOW3P:

(1) I agree that your scenario COULD happen, but DOES it happen? Very rarely. There isn't a problem with people running landfarms in alliance server right now, and I don't think making land a marketable commodity would change that. Fact is, people aren't going to play the game simply to let someone else farm them. That just doesn't happen.

(2) I do think that my proposed change would probably increase land-trading in alliance server. But that is a problem that needs to be addressed separately (perhaps make it impossible to grab countries in your same alliance, or greatly reduce the gains you would receive from grabbing a country in your own alliance).

Detmer - I agree with you, but that is FFA. That has its own issues!

NOW3P:

A) How would it be horribly abused? This isn't earth 2025, this is earth empires. You wouldn't be able to send mass quantities of land to one country because of standing orders.

B) I would argue it would INCREASE grabbing. There would be more land to grab.

Corfu Game profile

lincoln - I think the land would be vacant (although I guess you could always incorporate buildings in the future!)

Detmer - I disagree. The markets in EE seem to work very well in regards to supply and demand. Commodities with a weaker demand (i.e. oil) limit the amount of people who can play that strategy (you don't have a ton of oilers like you do techers or industrialists). The demand for land would be EXTREMELY high, thus making some type of explore strat a viable. I could see an acre of land selling for $500,000 and up on the public market (which could be quite profitable for someone).

Corfu Game profile

Member

Tertius - I think that rule would make a lot of sense; have some type of restriction which prevents you from selling land that you have grabbed within 24 hours (or something similar to that).

The server tends to be more L:L in taking retals anyway, so I'm not sure if this would be that big of an issue. It would just take another retal perhaps to gain back the land lost.

Corfu Game profile

I've brought this idea up in various threads in the past, but thought I'd make my own post about it.

I would like to see land be able to be sold on the public market. Not only would this introduce a new strategy (potentially) to the game (i.e. "land baron"), but it would probably help alleviate some of the issues pertaining to massive farming of untags, since you would no longer have land-grabbing as your only good option to gaining land once you are at your 6 acre explore rate.

I don't think this would eliminate grabbing either, since it would only increase the overall quantity of land on any given server.

Flame away!

Thomas the Tank Engine as best individual netting performance?

Hmm...I disagree. It was an awesome country, but I would have given the award to Highrock or LT (or even Osso).

And of course I would have liked to see EVO get more votes for best netting performance as an alliance - we had a higher ANW than Omega with more countries and had more top 25, more top 50 and a lot more top 100 countries. :P (Again, though, I'm biased!)

Of the rest, it looks like Ossevo should be up there.

So the breakdown is

RD: 1
Sof: 3
Omega: 1
Laf: 1
Evo: 1

So there are 3 more spots open. I'm gonna be a homer and say 2 Omega and 1 Laf are going to take the last 3 spots.

Looks like only 1 RD in the top ten...I think they really put all their eggs in Mr Silver's basket.

I agree with you as to who will be top 10. Ossevo will make it in the top 10.

LaF's top guy (LT???) will have a very good finish (if he doesn't screw up the destock).

Mr. Silver should win.

If I had to break down the top 10 by alliance, I would go with:

EVO: 1 (Go EVO!!!) :P
LaF: 2
Omega: 2
SoF: 2
RD: 3

I think the top 3 right now will stay in the top 10:

It'll be interesting to see the top 10 breakdown by alliance. There are a couple of SoFers that I know will be in there, a few LaF guys that have been having really good resets. RD should place at least 3, if not 4. I would hope EVO will have at least 2, although we'll see! The competition will be fierce. :)
