The German is continuing to destroy the undecided vacation planner but his first tank barrage failed. This indicates two things; 1) #26 has either produced or purchased more tanks & 2) #41 has enough spies to get an updated report on #26.

At this point, I think too much damage has been done to #26 for him to come back and win this war. This has become so one-sided that I feel like spending my stockpile on tanks and going after the German, but I don't know if #26 instigated this war so I'll stay out of it... for now.

Are you being attacked by any other countries? Your scenario matches a country in game B although I think he's being attacked by more than 1 country.

Thanks for posting the formula. 300K should be enough to fend off AB's against #41, in my opinion. #41 is a republic, so his military is weaker than #26. #41 has recently attempted land grabs so that suggests he still has a significant amount of jets, so he hasn't gone all tanks & turrets.

I'm assuming that #41 has between 400k - 500k tanks. What's your take?

Thanks for posting that example, synoder. I misunderstood the examples posted by the others. This clears it up for me once and for all.

A commie with that much land should be able to quickly mass produce tanks if they set it to 100%. #26 could then sell jets on the private market instead of using them for further land grabs.

It's possible that he had 0 tanks and, like you said, he's not able to mass produce tanks fast enough but based on his actions, I don't think he's done enough to build up tanks.

This is my first game in several years so I'm no longer familiar with the formulas. Assuming no tech has been acquired, how many tanks can a commie indy with about 9000 industrial buildings produce each turn?

I've been critical of #26 but maybe it's possible that he's just messing with #41. By continue to perform massive land grabs he's showing him that he can take land from #26 at will no matter what #26 does to him. Psychological warfare or poor war skills?

Maybe I'm the one who is confused then because after reading all of the posts, I thought that it works the other way. If someone places a standing order for $50 and then 3-6 hours later, goods come on the market for exactly $50, then the standing order for $50 will be filled before a standing order of $80, even though the $80 order was placed first.

At this point it's clear that despite being a very skilled player, #26 does not know how to win a war. #41 has decimated #26 time and time again, using tanks but #26's only answer is to strike with planned strikes.

So then I was right after all. Based on what you have all agreed on, it no longer takes a determined cheater to win. I'm posting this so that the developers can make changes, not to encourage cheating.

Let's look at the tournament market.

- Under 200 players
- The easiest commodities to manipulate are oil and tech.

Let's use oil as an example.

I run 1 oiler and 3 cashers. The 3 cashers can either be mine or my friends who will help me benefit from standing order transfers.

The current market price for oil is around 100-150/barrel. Market manipulation will begin during the second week of the game because by that time, the 3 cashers will be in good position to spend a significant percentage on their cash on market manipulation.

I place 1 million barrels on the market for $160. I then use my 3 cashers to buy as much oil as possible, thereby driving the price up.

Once my oil @ $160 sells. I then place a standing order for oil at $50. The cashers then immediately dump all the oil they purchased on the public market for $50.

Before I placed my standing order for $50, there was already a standing order for $80. However, according to the info posted above and in another thread about standing orders, my standing order for $50 takes precedence over the standing order for $80 IF oil is placed on the market for exactly $50.

Once I acquire all of this oil for $50, I place it on the market for $160. The 3 cashers will then once again continue to purchase oil, driving the price up... and it continues.

One small change can stop this cheating. The first standing over placed that is above $50 should scoop up the oil, not the order that is placed for exactly $50.

This is a small, logical change that should be implemented.

Nothing new to report. Perhaps there's some diplomacy going on at the moment. I suspect that #26 is trying to convince #41 that a war isn't in their best interests as they both have a legitimate shot at winning game B. Also, a long drawn out war will raise the possibility that both sides will drop enough in the rankings to keep them out of game A next round.

It's clear that #41 is upset at #26's 2 very large land grabs. #41's first retaliation, in response to #41's retaliation showed just how rash, and possibly hard core #41 is.

However, his actions also display a player who's had his pride taken away from him. At first his reaction is to DESTROY #26's country, but after firing 4 missiles at #26, he attempts a PLANNED STRIKE, which failed... miserably. So, full of rage, he then attacks with tanks.

Right now #26 is taking a vacation when it comes to going to war. He needs to retaliate hard and #41 simply can not become a diplomat after acting like a crazy tyrant.

I will keep you all posted and promise not to interfere in this war unless I'm somehow drawn into it.
