Obama made some terrible decisions in the middle east. Let's face it, Obama was a gangster president. He decides that he wants to take out Assad, so he sends a bunch of money and weapons to some Al Qaeda affiliated rebels. And what happens? He fans the flames of a civil war and contributes to the deaths of hundreds of thousands and the displacement of millions. When are these interventionists going to learn? Just leave well enough alone. You don't go destabilizing an extremely volatile area by financing an armed insurrection. It is hubris to imagine that you can insert yourself into a foreign conflict and make things better. Or look at Libya. They take out Ghaddafi and what is the obvious and predictable result? A power vacuum and the ensuing civil war as members of the regime square off with each other over who gets to pick up the pieces.

I don't see what the big deal is about guns, I mean in the end we are all going to be dead anyway might as well live a little before that happens. But the most important reason not to have gun control is that so you can over throw the government should the need arise. Anyway even if you ban guns you are just going to leave good people defenseless because criminals don't follow the law in the first place. So let's just not have any gun control and focus on limiting the size of the government so that it is not tyrannical.

because of the market and the laws of supply and demand any strategy can be viable just depends on how what the biggest countries end up as.

it is pretty important not to get too fat as a casher, since you will be a natural grab target for industrialists. if you are getting too fat relative to your defenses and relative to the rest of the players in the list you could spend a few more turns cashing instead of exploring and use the money to buy more turrets and tech.

Basically you should specialize in a particular strategy and focus on that instead of having a bunch of different type of buildings. So either build all industrial facilities, all enterprise / residential, all research labs, all farms etc. That way you can pick a government type that complements your strategy and get maximum benefit out of technology. There are some modest exceptions to this, for example a farmer might wish to branch into oil as well, and industrialists often build some farms and oil rigs especially early on but for the most part you just specialize in a particular strategy. The only real reason to build military bases is if you are going to try to resell military from your private market to the public market, since military bases reduce the cost to purchase units on your private market.

generally you cannot afford to tear down captured buildings, except for research labs. it also depends on how easy it is to capture new land. in situations where you can't grab as easily you may end up trying to be more efficient and rebuilding captured buildings into indies.


basically the key to a good indy strat is to be really aggressive with land grabbing. farm people like crazy and amass a ton of land and military.

Frankly I would not be surprised to learn that an accurately calculated 10% oversend has a 100% success rate.

I find failure rate with 10% send to be negligible.
