To be fair, a Mercs country was the aggressor in this, the player who made the 2 grabs made a calculated decision.

Knowing his bros have his back and wouldn't accept more than 2 hits back on him (fair's fair n all that) he went for it.

The problem arose when #46 decided to retal his land back on a neutral country that never hit him with some BS about ghost acres, for which yet again M4D are going to be tag killed.

#46 should have just sucked it up did 2x PS back on the aggressor and moved on, unless this was their plan all along to have a war?

little bit of both. Missiles and ops uncalled for, but at the same time, cross retalling without explicit FA approval is also a big no no.
The claim about "not getting land back" is spurious, I got my land back from Sui when he LG'd me, and he was on less than half my acres.
At the end of the day, you take retals on the country that grabbed you, unless your FA's have otherwise arranged, with the other alliance's FA's, to take the retals on another country.
In either case, you send a message making clear that a given hit is a retal.
It's really not that hard.

What if I told you not every landgrab on a hostile alliance is a retal?

Out of the two of you, one has won this server ten times.

It's a terrible use of turns to borrow land. You're investing resources in it twice instead of once (defensive losses on the retal) and you'll also lose back tech, money, food, etc. If you're doing it "at the end" because you'll come out way ahead on the exchange, it means you were never big enough to begin with.

I'm just shooting from the lip here, but...

on #1, that seems like it would be difficult to balance. I think it can also be rationalized that your losses are mitigated through capture rather than you actually losing some units, then also gaining some units.

#2 seems pretty interesting. Lower market commissions for the whole tag? PM recharge for the whole tag? Tech effectiveness bonus for the whole tag? Very low increments of course, seems like it could be fun though. As long as everyone gets the same options balance will be served.

Yes communist industrialists particularly benefit from getting multiple market sales over small amounts of turns played. So if you sell max goods, log in when they're sold, play a small number of turns (10 or so) then sell max again, you'll be in much better shape.

Alliance and Team by their nature require players to share information, and what serves the longterm entrenched player base is to gate that infosharing behind joining alliances and discords to get it.

For Primary and Express (the two solo servers with allies), this could definitely lead to greater coordination and more warring. I don't see it as being a big problem though, because if two countries end up at war with the same country there - well, the guy by himself had to break GDI at some point right? The existing architecture doesn't seem (to me) to support crazy wars of collusion with a change like this.

Since there's now a shared ops functionality in the cooperation server, it seems like excellent functionality for intel allies to have shared ops on other servers as well. After all, isn't that what the Five Eyes do? Pool resources then share intel?
