I have this feeling that the GAA in this series will be ridiculously low and that it'll be won by grinding through shifts and putting away the garbage through traffic in front. Neither team is going to dangle its way or skate its way through the other.

If there is evidence that the person who killed themselves was assisted in any way then charges should certainly be drawn up for those individuals as well, but that has no bearing on whether or not you "punish" the dead individual. And I was referencing the goals of the justice system as they apply to an individual after they had committed a crime. Deterence is certainly a goal of the justice system, but it does not apply to this discussion.

You can also do that to an average-sized black bear. Most animals will get scared by things that are louder and look bigger than them. But well done on surviving your first wolf attack! :)

Dibs - what greater punishment can you give a person once they're dead? Affecting their estate will punish their family, not them. What can you do? And the justice system serves to do more than just punish - it has 3 goals: rehabilitation, safety of the public, and punishment. How can you rehabilitate somebody who is dead? How can a dead person pose a threat to the public? How can you punish somebody who is dead without also punishing people who did absolutely nothing wrong? I really hope that you're arguing just for the hell of arguing and that you don't actually believe that we should be bringing dead bodies up on suicide charges...

And on the point of abortion - without having read any of the discussion so far I will share the one and only argument that I need to justify my point of view:

As an elementary school teacher who teaches a social adjustment/behavioural modification class for JK - grade 6 students I see first hand the impact that a child's environment has on them. There is no way that any person or deity would believe that it would be more just and more moral to bring a life into a world that does not want it and that may not have the means to care for it, than to end it in the most infant stages of its development.

I'm sure you know of the huge difference between tabling a topic for discussion and enacting it into law. Hell, the majority of bills don't even make it past first reading. I'm sure it's a topic for discussion beacuse it is a topic that many Canadians are affected by; however, I seriously doubt that any government in Canada will ever reverse our current abortion laws (or lack thereof). Even regulation can only go so far given the decisions by the Supreme Court. The most right-wing House of Commons we've got would still look like a bunch of sissy Marxist socialists vis-a-vis a Democratic House of Representatives in Washington (well not really, but you see my point.)

I was at the Drabek game. I'm giddy about this kid.

Also, who thinks that Encarnacion should just move to DH, Rivera should sit, and Nix should play 3rd. The game I went to he went something like 2-4 with a HR and a BB and made two great defensive plays... A diving stop down the third base line and a perfect throw to first for the out, and a great play on a tricky bounce to turn 2. Encarnacion already has like 4 errors in 3 games. Get his ass off the field and have him DH.

Alicia - can you change my password on the omega site? I think I changed it to something a while ago and I forget what it is. Actually... I think I got mad at Martian and suicided on a bunch of countries and then deleted my country and purposely changed my password to something I wouldn't remember because I had had enough of this game.
