BTW you are creating that narrative in your own mind. The extent of what I was thinking was "Wow, I have more spies than him and he has tech, let me try to take some". I never considered if I had hit you or not. I didn't even realize that I had attacked you before.

That was me that failed. I only tried (and failed) once. Why would I come back for more after getting 1 point of tech?
