Seeing as I was one of the ones purpled for running an alternate account (Which was my original account but more on that) I guess I need to come clean.
At the start of set 34 in FFA I was going to originally play from my main account (Bluecow) when I got word of CC tracking me using the leader board feature. I deleted my countries and created a new account to bypass the tracking method that they used. At the time I did not think much of it and continued to play from this alt account until set 65 when I decided to revive my original account. I spread a little disinformation in PMs about creating a new account and everything went smoothly. Last night or early morning I was deleted for rule violations of playing on an alternate account. For anyone tracking up to now I was on my original account... So for 30 + sets I was able to play from an alt which at the time was breaking the rules but was also ok in the eyes of the mods as they let it go for 30 + sets. Why the change of heart on the mods/dev part now you ask?
Well creating a new account screws with clans (Laf and co) abilities to track you on the leader board. Why would a clan want to track you on the leader board?
Well lets say you have an arranged war and you know who the main wallers are on the opposing side. If you know what country they run you can use this information to get an upperhand by knowing their potential play time or work schedule to kill them. Another way to look at it outside of war is if you know who one of your competitors are you can send someone to jack there reset up.
How do they track on the leaderboard?
They track by compiling a list of users based on networth / Attack / Defends / Kills / Deaths.
Attack, defends, kills, and deaths update once a day. So if a player makes 10 attacks in a day and the leader board updates it will show that player x made 10 attacks so this must be their country. Player x makes 5 attacks the next day. Leader board updates and now you know for sure that player x is that country.
But my profile is closed/hidden.
You can still be tracked. All it takes is one leak and they will have your attacks and defends already recorded from the list on the leader board for future resets.
Until this loophole of tracking countries is closed this game will be broken and anyone who wants to compete against the people who abuse this feature will have to be in fear of having their country suicided by "friends".
Mod Abuse?
No idea if this is mod abuse but everyone should know that a mod might be leaking what servers other people are playing. This leak can also result in targeted game play vs another player.

In this picture we have a mod and a developer both in laf chat. The mod mentions to the public chat that a player also has a country in teams.
If this mod was willing to leak that information which should not be known to a non modded player into a chat what other information behind closed doors are they leaking to their clan mates?

Here we have a dev with tools to see when accounts were created in my best guess sending a message about my alt account being deleted. But my alt account was not deleted and my main account was. This is the same dev that had blamed me for him losing his dev status last year when it was found he was doing something wrong based on the some admin logs.
As I said earlier. I was in the wrong, but this wrong exposed some shady stuff that has been going on in this game by the devs, mods, and players.
