yea, I like more servers except for the player-base splitting thing....

Alliance & Council & Limited running at the same time imho contributed a bit to splitting the player base on old earth.... It'd be fine to have more if we had more players, like say >10k on a server....

I'd also be inclined to reintroduce random... like 1c-> whatever if we got back to the >10-15k in primary mark

the main idea is exposure; if even 100k people hear of it, and 1% of them try it, that's 1k people who've tried it... and who knows, maybe only 1% of them will stay, that's 10 people sure; but if the 1k people who've tried it each expose 10 more people to it...

etc

exposure is key, it is a nostalgic game sure, but lots of us like that sort of thing ;) heck i installed Baldurs Gate II : SOA half a year ago to replay it heh.....

I'm definitely not a smoker of anything myself, but I figure you can have people addicted to alcohol as easily (if not moreso) as weed...

The only problem with legalizing is that there may be additional people who would try it and get addicted who would not otherwise have...

Yup, what pang said; facebook is the way forward, but there's a lot of work to be done before then, especially if we want to *keep* new players. For example, we need to get good help & instructions up and working.... etc

So have some patience, we're going to get to it, but it will take a bit of time, as each of Pang, slag & I have theses to write I believe heh... I suspect we'll each have a lot more time once those are complete.

the safelist is relatively small, and has a mix of people from different alliances and servers; one thing the safelist does not do is make you immune...

the safelist functions such that you are safelisted with somebody else's account; that means that you are safe from IP & cookie crossings with that account only. If there were to be any further crosses with other accounts you would be targetted for deletion; so it's not a carte-blanche quite like i understand the last game was.

(for example, in one of our last big round of deletions, a number of safelisted countries were deleted due to having not been safelisted with other accounts that they should have gotten safelisted with... say 3 coworkers playing the game but only two pairs had been safelisted, not the third pair -- though we've made it possible to safelist more than pairs since that incident)

I drafted up a new government with some unique bonuses but there was some heavy debate about how powerful it was...... and what strats it would disrupt


So... yes, we plan on doing stuff like that, but we are keenly aware of the current balance of the game, all being strategy buffs to some extent or another, so our way forward will be... probably a little slow and determined...


And there are some philosophical differences about some things in the game too (like the validity of the 2B bug... i'd like to squash that one simply because it's a bug imho, others view it more a s a feature and are concerned how doing so would affect the game)...


Rest assured we will make changes, and they will have been considered in almost every way we can imagine if they're major ones like a new govt...
