I havent played for about 5 years now so have forgotten a lot of stuff esp start up and when to switch from indy start up to the strat you intend to play, in my case some kind of farmer or techer. Any other advice would be good. Is oiler still crap?

You can go strat farmer start up since bushels sell on private for $32

No need for indy.

When to switch to techer depends on your plan and style. Personally i run farmer to 1920 acres, then batch explore (explore max turns) which puts me at just under 4k acres. Which is when i become a techer. So build those unbuilt acres to labs and rebuild my farms.


Oil is still unpredictable. Some sets it pays out. Other sets it sucks. Generally its best to run a farmer/oiler and if oil crashes you can become pure farmer.

I do the exact same thing drinks said about when to switch to techer so it must be wrong cause I can't net to save my life.

most people can mass a good stock, but the destock gets the most in trouble. I can't remember how many people destock a rep / fas or the likes.

if wants to be high on scores then switch to theo or demo mbr is nearly needed unless has been really lucky on getting stock.

I still feel the best way to play a techer is an indy start-up. It beats all other start-ups every time for techer.

i don't at all disagree, rob, but i go farmer myself (not that i go techer too often, mind you). can you quickly write down why you find indy works far better for the start up, please? i am thinking of playing in the future, and my startups are always shoddy at best :P

suiciders aren't problem nowadays so against landgrabbers and applies to all servers unless you have very tight embassy on alliance-servers so then you could do farmer start.

I'm also a long time returning player. I haven't played in about 7 years. I remember a few names though, Slagpit, Vic, etc. My question is, when did theo casher become a good strat and why? I've been sending out tech alloes to Theos and they are cashers???

bpt speed bonus helps alot and lower mil prices at priv. if public is higher and few other things.

they get a bonus is pop plus bpt so for quick games theo/cashers do pretty well although I dont really like them. Long term I think rep/casher always wins out because of tech.
