I've been playing with the tax % with different gov's and don't seem to really catch a sweet spot for a demo farmer or rep/casher.

Where do you set your tax % and why?

Thanks

35%-36%.

Differentiate the tax formula with respect to tax% and food price, and it falls to the above range. In the absence of food upkeep, it is exactly 35%.

I was curious if people find that the tax rate should be different based on Government type.

sure it would be nice for reps to have higher tax rate w/o loss of population but in the end it doesn't matter much.

Should you lower it it initially to spur pop growth?

yes to recover from gs/br attacks (although if casher gets br'd then lowering tax% doesn't help much), otherwise it doesn't help that much.

35% is the perfect position, unless you find food to be a limiting factor, then set it higher, but you won't make as much money as you would with 35% tax rate.
