but it is a 180 degree change from early seasons rick, where he was the one giving all the second chances. rick is now shane. and morgan is 180 degrees different from when we last saw him, and i have a feeling we will find out what happened to him.
You are correct in that Glenn is one of the few characters in the show (and in the comics) that has never killed a living human being. I also agree that there was a tie in between Rick's attitude "make it back with or without these people" and Glenn "I've got to save everyone" - which ended up reinforcing Rick's viewpoint of the world.
Where I take issue: I hear the Rick and Shane comparison a lot, but are they really the same? Shane wounded an innocent man, a man who was part of their group looking for medicine for another group member, to save his own skin. Rick, as awful as he has become, has never gone that far. The furthest he's gone was banishing Carol, and that was due to her own inhumanity toward other members of the group. When the chips were down, we saw what kind of person Shane was. When Rick has been in similar situations, we have seen him fight to the end. The Governer, Terminus, the Claimers... he's been in plenty of dire situations but has never once thought about turning on his "family" - he'd rather die fighting. I think there is still a shred of humanity left in Rick, where I think Shane's was completely gone.
