Is this a common occurrence? It's been a while since I've played tourny, and since there aren't bots, I guess it's up to each player, but is the market just sparse or do people actually need to be a bit rainbow just to have food / survive playing turns?

Last set I finished 7th in B, I could have been higher ,but I forgot to play my last turns, that day. And when set up this country I was told I would be in A, but I ended up in C , oh well and I am leading C with a Tyranny atm.

The oil was $500 because the countries on landgrab frenzies have already emptied their Private market. They will still buy, often in exact amount for hit to save money. Same with food. We had $75 food everyday on a Primary set a few months back. In order to get to A you must get top 3 in B.

This is a tourney server. Countries on this server are split up into several different games: game A, B, and C. Game A is the upper level of tournament. Only the top 50% of players in game A stay in game A after the reset is complete. The bottom 50% are randomly assigned to the lower level games, B and C. Similarly, the top 25% of players in games B and C move up to game A at the end of the round. New countries will be assigned to the lower level games. All games share the same public market.

It's top 25%, so it varies based on number of countries. Top 5 is generally a good goal.

That's not top ten, Game B and C aren't counted in the rankings, if you finish in top you qualify to the main event, in other words, B and C are like a qualifying round.

I didn't mean that if you use the same name, you'll automatically be guaranteed a spot into Game A. i meant that: maybe the reason you got into Game C instead of Game A (even tho you qualified for game A), was because you recreated a new country but with the same name (the bottom option, instead of the top option/button that would have used your previous name that would have taken you into Game A)

Buy military costs tech and you can raise your private market sell price

I quit Tournament C this round after I played a Tyranny. Spied on #23 and never hit him all I wanted to see what he was doing. He turned my country into a parking lot, at this point why bother to rebuild I had no reason to rebuild. Am I butt hurt? No. Next set. I won't play a Tyranny any more I just haven't figured out how to play it and not end up in negative numbers because I can't make enough money to build it.

I think tyranny would be hard in tourny - the main benefit is from attacking more frequently. That sucks if all you did was spy, but a different strat would probably suit you better for next set. For easier cash flow management, you could go farmer or casher and stay positive per turn pretty easily.
