i am a fiscal conservative civil libertarian living in a socialist country.

i mean, if i broke my arm i'd be an absolute tool, a lot like jiman now that you ask, to refuse the free medical care, but at the same time i believe in a two tiered medical system, where i'm allowed to pay into what i want, and not pay into what everybody else wants. i was born a canadian, not a communist. (i say that very heavily, i realize the differences, don't worry)

i am happy as it is right now, where nobody says a word to me, and marijuana is illegal. again with the nobody says a word to me.. (and in case jiman doesn't quite understand, heroin should be ***illegal*** too)

Yay for stupid people who believe everything the big pharma companies and governments tell them! Since when should things be illegal if they aren't necessary? Do we live in a prison? I think the list of things that should be illegal by Dibs' standards are much shorter than things that should be legal.

Ever hear of this thing called freedom? Maybe people should have the freedom to choose what they put in their own bodes if it is not hurting OTHER people.

How about medicines that have been recalled by the FDA because they KILL PEOPLE:

Vioxx
Avandia
Vicodin (not recalled but acetaminophen reduced because it causes liver failure)
Fen-Phen
Poisonous tylenol
etc,etc,

Have fun living in a police state, where the dope the government gives you costs more, is addictive, has ridiculous side effects, and every now and then KILLS YOU.

btw, that list was fluffing retard for about 90% of it. there WERE a couple of good points in it, but it was so buried in all the CRAP that it was hard to actually find them.

and for those who say weed doesn't do any harm, it has been PROVEN to be a trigger for psychosis.
that means if you have the potential for a psychotic disorder, smoking weed is a BAD idea.

There are certainly constraints. But I think people should have the freedom to put non-harmful things into their own bodies if they want to.

Yes people can nitpick the details on it not being harmful. But it is certainly less harmful than alcohol, tobacco, and most prescription medications.

No, the problem that I have with your argument is that you assume if we cannot justify the legalization that it should remain illegal. I think things should be legal unless there are good reasons why they are illegal. I would be interested in hearing you provide reasons why marijuana should be illegal in the US, especially in the context of tobacco, alcohol, and prescription drug legality.
